Fall 2025; Team Session
Phase: Construction
Theme: Develop Ability to build out of the back and move the ball forward
Decision Making: (1) Can I find or create space? (2) Can I dribble/pass forward to advance the ball? (3) Can we play through the defense? Can we play over the defense?
Defending Terminology: (1) Stretch - Attacking players get closer to the opponents goal, (2) Width - create space to play wide areas, (3) Depth - defending players get closer to your own goal, (4) Split/Through - look for penetrating pass, (5) Switch - get ball from one side to another.

UP BACK THROUGH
Instructions:
1. The center back (bottom of the screen) starts the play by passing wide to the outside back or midfielder, initiating a build-out from the back.
2. The outside player sets the ball back to the center back under pressure, then drops to create space and provide support. Both outside players drop to support; the inside player (second CM) also drops to show as a switch.
3. The center back plays into the central midfielder (tip of the diamond). As the ball travels, outside backs/wingers push forward to support. The central midfielder then connects with the wide player, combining to play around the pressure.
4. The outside player receives again and plays a driven pass forward to the target player.
5. Reset and repeat from the opposite side.
Set/Duration: 2 sets at 1:30 min
