Technical Players will be placed demands to perform technical actions on the ball. Session has a high amount of ball rolling time increasing opportunity for players to get on the ball and perform technical actions |
|
Tactical Tactical is lower due to players having less positional constraints instead more influence on the session tactical just comes from players game intelligence and the game understanding for when to perform these actions. |
|
Physical High intensity session high work lower rest ratios players upon. Players required to perform physical actions when fatigued and body is tired. High amount of accelerations and decelerations demandes required on players and disterence covered over the time period will be relatively high. |
|
Psychological High cognitive load session requires high amounts of scanning, high repetition means players undergo high requirements of self evaluation and reflection during the sessions. |
|
Social Players working within a team to win activity, and perform actions. |

Final Third (15 mins)
Set Up:
- 36 Yards Long x 44 Yards Wide
- 2 teams 5 players total
Description: I'll frame session for the first 2 min. Then Block 1 begins where it is just a 2v1 then done. After that its Block 2 and add in progression of after the 2v1 its now a 3v2. After that Block 3 and then add in last progression of 2v1 then 3v2 then 4v3 then done. Block 4 is the same as before.
Conditions:
- Balls dribbled in by players into grid.
- 4 Blocks 2:30- 3min long rest for 1 min
- Can only shoot past the disk half way line
- If its in keepers hands its done, if they parry it its still in
- offsides coach led
Challenges:
- Can we Engage the defender to commit and go 1v1 against him or find the spare teammate.
- Can we have deliberate double movement to get on the end of crosses into the box
- Can we overlap and under lap the ball carrier to manipulate the attacking space and create scoring opportunities in the final third.
- Can we take risks in the final third
Coaching points:
- The quality to perform double movements in attacking third to create space for player to then score
- Technical detail on scoring chances and the mechanics of performing to action to do so
- When playing the final pass we want it to be able to be hit in 1-2 touch if desired by the player receiving the pass. In addition to detail on the execution of the final pass.
Target: 1 point for a goal.
Progression:
Block 1 - Block 2 2v1 into a 3v2 then done
Block 2 - Block 3 2v1 - 3v2 - 4v3.
Regression: I can just stay at ethier 2v1 to 3v2 if needed.
- In the session looking to expose players to high acceleration and deceleration loads. In a study conducted looking at the amount of accelerations and decelerations performed during a match are in transitional moments and highest amount of acceleration and decelerations are performed by wide players (Vigh-Larsen, Dalgas and Andersen, 2018).
- In the session I will also be focusing on creating chances in the final third and scoring these chances. During the 2023 women's world cup 9/10 open play goals where scored in the box and the winners Spain average 7 shots per game inside the box (Simpson,2023).
