Session Objective:

Organisation:
- Place 2 gates 15 feet apart
- Centrally between the gates and 20 feet in front of them have a defender with a ball facing away from the gates
- 5 feet in front of the defender have an attacker facing them
- 5 feet behind the attacker facing the gates have a 2nd defender
Activity:
- Defender 1 plays to the attacker and the passively closes
- The attacker will receive and attempt to take their touch in to the space away from the defender before driving towards one of the goals
- On the attackers first touch the 2nd defender will be freed and will attempt to tag the attacker before they get through the gate
Progression
- Defender starts 2 feet closer and is now attempting to win the ball

- First touch away from pressure
- Awareness of where defender is and how to use body appropriately

Organisation:
- Place two goals on one end line 20 yards apart
- Place a centre line between the two goals that stretches 20 yards in length
- At the base of the centre line in between the goals place a defender
- Place another defender halfway up the centre line
- Add an attacker at the opposite end of the centre line
- Place 1 attacker either side of the central attacker on the same line in line with the goal
Activity:
- The central defender starts with the ball and plays it to the central attacker and then runs straight at them
- The attacker will choose to either take a touch left or right
- Whichever side the attacker takes a touch the other attacker that side will join in with the attack
- The defender starting between the goals will step out to defend the goal that side
- The attackers will play 2v1 to goal
Progression
- The attackers can switch to the opposite side of the field, however if they do the receiving attacker must play 1v1 to goal without support should the defender get across quickly enough
- The starting attacker touches the top line and can then recover to defend
Coaching Points:
- First touch away from pressure
- Support players angle
- Body shape when receiving
- Create shape by drawing the defender

Activity 1 (10 mins)
Organisation:
- Each player creates a 3x3 area
- Each player stands in the middle of their area with a ball in their hands
Activity:
- The players will throw the ball up in the air and attempt to control it with one touch keeping it in the space
- Every time they are able to control the ball without it leaving the area they gain a point
- After every control they will look to find another open box and perform the same skill
Progression
- If they are able to control with their weaker foot they get double points.
Coaching Points:
- Watch the ball down
- Cushion the touch with a movement away on receipt
- Ask the question, how can we make it easier and how can we make it harder
