Set-Up (10 mins)

  • 12 Players or more
  • 1 Ball
  • 4 Cones or Mannequins
  • Area 15x15
Organisation: 4 Mannequins or cones, 3/4 players on each. Player starts with the ball is pressed by the opposite player on the opposite cone/mannequin. Player with the ball passes to player to the right and moves to the left mannequin. Repeat so that the ball is moving to the right, passer moves to the left and each player receiving is pressed.

 

 

Progression

1 - Change direction so that player passes to the left and moves to the right.

2 - Allow pressing players shape to force play a certain way. Passers can decide weather to pass left or right and move to the opposite mannequin or cone.

 

 

Technical Coaching Points

  • Defenders should accelerate and decelerate on the approach keeping balance and on their toes for the last yard to ready for any tricks or quick moves. 
  • Angle body away from goal when closing down. 
  • Body Shape, angel their body and use their arms for balance whilst jockeying to show defenders one way.
  • Movement, as the ball travels defenders should look to move quickly to engage quicker with the attacker.
