The objective of the team in possession is to try and play through, around or over the opposition players to score. The team inpossession can use the common player to bounce the ball off who islimited to two touch. Once a team has scored play restarts with theopposition. The SSG MUST reflect the 11v11 game in terms of throwin's and restarts.HowContinue to work with the ONE team throughout the whole session, so if you've coached the blues here in the specific part of the session, then make sure you continue this into the SSG.
Conditions, Challenges & Targets
1. Players must try to break the lines of the opposing team by threading split passes through opposing players. Each team will score 3goals for splitting opposing players and 1 goal for playing around or over the opposition players2. Limited touches in possession (E.g. 2 or 3 touch max)Block 1: Manage the reds to drop off to the edge of the centre circle / provide the solutions to the bluesBlock 2: Manage the reds to press the blues / provide the solutions to the reds. This maybe an opportunityto play over as well as through

Playing through / around / overUnderstand when and how to play through, around or over theopposition based on the type of pressure applied
Organisation / Area Size60m x 30m (this may vary due to age/ability of the players and thephysical demands required)Play 6v6 + 1 common player centrally(In Yellow) + 2 GKsPlay 4 x 3 minute periods with 2 min break. MF players can move around the practice as directed by the coachbased on playing principles, the centre backs for both the blue/redteam are locked into the boxes as servers for the specific part of thepractice.
Explanation
Both teams are focusing on the same in possession principle butonly ONE team is coached and the other team is managed. Theobjective of the team in possession is to try and play through, aroundor over the opposition players and score by transferring the ball into their 9. The team in possession can use the common player tobounce the ball off who is limited to two touch. Once a team has successfully got the ball into the 9 they can then go through into a 1v1 vthe GK. This is managed by a countdown to mimic the game. The GK then distributes a ball into a centre back and play restarts.
Coach
will only work with ONE team and manage the opposition. EG the blues here have the ball, they've used the common player toplay through (the extra player will give you an element of success) and is a wide player who has overloaded the central area/centreforward who has dropped deep. If the blue team are out of possession they are not coached but need to adhere to the realism of thesession. The opposition, when in possession, will adhere to the same in possession playing principles but WONT be coached at anytime, only managed to ensure realism and to maximise what YOU want from the session. Ensure they adhere to a managed countdownso the blue team work the majority with the ball.
