Technical Game: Raptor Trap (15 mins)

INSTRUCTIONS: 

Play this game King of the Hill style, winner goes up, loser goes down

 

  • ROUND 1: Bib Tag - Each player has a bib, the opposition can win by getting the tag. Player puts the tag back in and the game keeps going. Player with most bib tags wins. 

     

  • ROUND 2: 1 player has a ball, other player is the defender. Defender get a point every time they can touch the attackers ball. Defender loses a point if they kick the ball out. 

     

  • ROUND 3:  1 player has a ball, other player is trying to win the ball off them. At the end of (x) time, the person with the ball can dribble out and go score a goal. 
COACHING CONSIDERATIONS:
  • Do they understand the concept of Hiding the Ball? 
  • Maybe play this game without 
  • Use coach modelling in demonstration to explain the game

Technical Game: Bumble Bee Rumble (15 mins)

INSTRUCTIONS:

  • Each team nominates a defender and attacker in the centre - all other players outside. 
  • There are 2 - 1v1's in the middle going simultaneously. Each team is playing only to the bouncers with their colour bib. 
  • The objective for each team is to move the ball from end to end through the middle attacker
  • Team with the most points after X seconds wins
  • Teams lose a point for every time they lose the ball.

PROGRESSION:

  • 2 v 2 in the middle with only 1 ball in play. Players look to connect with each other.
  • Could you introduce/entice the idea of a Give and GO?

COACHING CONSIDERATIONS:

  • Rotate players fast to keep all players active and engaged.
  • Consider the size of the space
  • For larger groups, add another 1v1. 
  • Regression: Add a spare player

Tactical Game: Reset (3v3) (15 mins)

INSTRUCTIONS:

  • 3 v 3 game with attackers receiving from their teammate at the endzone.
  • Attackers must try and turn defenders and score in the mini goals

  • Defenders try to win possession and RESET by playing back to their teammate and then receiving back to attack.
  • Attackers must be inside the shooting zone to score.
  • Bouncer cannot be used as a third player once he has played in
  • Game always starts back up at the top. 
  • The team that scores, gets the ball back. 

ROUND 1:  Every player is matched up 1v1 and they can only tackle their direct opponent. 

ROUND 2:  Normal rules. Can tackle anyone. Every pass the team makes before scoring a goal gets added to the scorline. e.g. if a team makes 4 consecutive passes before scoring, their goal count as 5. Must score for the bonus to be included. 

 

 

ROUND 3: Could you introduce/entice the idea of a give an go? 

 

COACHING CONSIDERATIONS:

  • Is there enough pressure on receiving player?
  • Are players able to connect with teammates? 
  • Could you add in/teach the idea of a Give and Go?

COACHING TOOLS

Restrict:

  • When receiving from bouncer players must take at least 2 touches

Relate:

  • Any time receiving with a defender in the back

Reward:

  • 2 points if the player that receives from the coach can turn and score
