Passing Technical (10 mins)

Technical Passing
In this session we will be looking to improve on the mechanics
of passing in an unopposed setting.

Set up
set up a 20yds x 15yds

1 flat in centre of area (10yds) & another 2 5 yards each side creating gates (red in Diagram)

1 more flat centrally on each touchline (yellow in Diagram)

2 flats, 1 either side inline with each gates 10yds out (blue in diagram)

Instructions


Players to split evenly at each blue cone.

1st player from each side to dribble toward the centre gates and play pass to player waiting at opposite side.

Player follows pass to other side.

Coach to observe from centrally allowing opportunity for Group and 1 to 1 Intervention.

Mechanics to observe passing.

1. Look at target
2. Eye on ball
3. Angle of approach
4. Non-kicking foot alongside ball in a
comfortable position
5. Strike centre of ball with inside
/ outside of foot (Identified area of ball)
6. Firm ankle
7. Follow through towards target

Possible Progression

Remove dribble and play a long pass.

2 touch with long pass

Passing Technical Progression (10 mins)

1 more flat centrally on each touchline (yellow in Diagram)

2 flats, 1 either side inline with each gates 10yds out (blue in diagram)

Instructions


Players to split evenly at each blue cone.

1st player from each side to dribble toward the centre gates and play pass to player waiting at opposite side.

Player at centre now drops off to yellow cone to their left checking shoulder and receives a pass back from the side the came from.

Player controls on back foot and plays pass in to the opposite side.

Player follows pass and joins back of que.

Coach to observe from centrally allowing opportunity for Group and 1 to 1 Intervention.

All players follow their passes.

4 x small goals one in each corner.

Instructions

Coach plays ball in to a team and play begins.

Team in possession looking to pass between each other as well as team situated on perimeter. when in possession it is a 8 v 4 overloads.

Teams looking to build number of passes score in any of the goals. Captains to be allocated to keep scores

Run the drill for 2 min and switch team on perimeter.

5. Part of the ball you make contact with and follow through

Run the drill for 2 min and switch team on perimeter
