Organisation:
- 2 teams inside grid with 4 neutral players on outside
- 2 balls in play (start with neutrals as shown)
- Uncontested practice to begin as a player receives ball from neutral before linking up with teammate(s). Aim is to then play back out to another neutral player.
- Number of passes between teammates can be as little or as many as they like
Focus:
- Can we change our angle of support so that the passer can play first time without needing to turn? This will enable one touch passes (*possible progression)
Progression:
- Contested game. One ball in use. Aim is to keep possession within your team while making use of neutral players on outside. Neutral players cannot be tackled.
- Goal scored when a team makes 10 consecutive passes
- Rotate neutral players every 2 minutes

SET UP:
> 5v5 + 5
> Possession game
> Keepers stay or rotate every game.
> 2-4min time cap or until a goal is scored.
> 2 touch for outside players/team, they can not be tackled.
KEY POINTS:
1. Players to keep possession and look to score using the overload (in possession) of 8v4 outfield players.
2. Coach can set a number of passes, for example 5 before you can score.
3. Quick rotations when a team scores.
4. Players on the outside, bouncers, to remain active and work together as a unit with the team in possession. Quick in transition when possession is changed.
**CP1**- Quality in possession, good awareness of space and ability to play the free/open player.
**CP2**- Focus on build up play, movement off the ball, penetrative passes and timing of pass and run to try and score.
POTENTIAL PROGRESSIONS:
1. Training game to lead into normal match.
2. Outside players to stretch pitch as wide players, they can now be tackled.
3. Organise a 4 team mini tournament. 3v3 or 4v4. Small goals across pitch.
Review / Reflect (to be completed after each session)..
HOMEWORK
1. Players to practice ball mastery and technical skills intoduced in the Arrival activity.
2. Players to go and research teams keeping possession on Youtube. Barcelona a great example. Can we identify players who keep possession of the ball well. Watch these players and give feedback to coach at next session.

Football Problem
When the team loses possession of the ball, they are too slow to transition into their BPO positions allowing the opposition plenty of space to penetrate and counter attack
Session Objective
In this session I aim to improve the ability of my players to recognise the right moment to immedietely transition into BPO positions when the team loses possession
Organisation
Teams play a 10 v 6 in the outer grid and play a 6 v 3 in the inner grid.
When the ten in the outer grid lose possession of the ball, three of them must immediately transition into the inner grid and try to win the ball back while the playrs left on the outside perform dynamic stretches.
The process repeats itself
Progression
When the six players on the inside lose possession of the ball, they must immediately transition int BPO positions to prevent the opposition from scoring in the big goal
Team Task
Immediately transition into BPO positions when we lose possession to delay or prevent a counter attack

Use standard 7v7 field with buildout line. Play 4v2 to three targets, as shown. When target receives they immediately join play for a 3v4 counter attack to goal. Vary the starting point, begin with ball always from GK, progress to serving it in from center line for defenders to retrieve and build the attack.
Coaching Points:
- Center backs: drop and get wide
- GK: wait for opposition to retreat to buildout line
- GK: be commanding, direct players where you want them

Practice organisation
• Area 35x10yds, including 2 end zones 5x10yds each.
• Main practice area divided into two 10x10yd zones, with a central
pocket of space 5x10yds, as illustrated.
• 10 players, 1 ball.
• 2 groups of 2v2 in main gridded area, either side of safe zone & 1
Target player at back of each end zone.
• Practice starts with: T feeds ball into Attackers who try to play
through opponents.
• Supporting player from advanced group can move into free zone,
unopposed to receive a get-out pass.
• Receiving player looks to penetrate opponents with a pass or run
into the end zone, for team mate running on, to receive or run with
the ball at the defender.
• Off-side rule applies.
• Sequence is successfully completed with quality pass into T.
• Play resumes in opposite direction, from T player.
Detail
• Attention to receiving skills with open body shape.
• Control ball into desired space.
• Looking for disguised passes, with players electing
to use ground or aerial passing techniques.
• Timing runs to remain on-side.
• Clever movement aimed at unbalancing
& moving D’s out of good defensive positions.
• Quality accurate passes into T.
• A simple progression for this practice is:
- Remove free zone & allow D to support play from behind.
Key coaching points
• Early identification of space available.
• Weight & accuracy of pass.
• Intelligent movement & turning.
• Looking forward & behind defence.
• Selecting whether to pass or run with ball to advance play.
• A’s pulling D’s short, to then get behind.
• A’s threaten behind to receive to feet & turn.
• Creating & exploiting 1v1 situations using skill & imagination.
• When to use quick play & one touch football.
