Description

This session introduces players to cooperation between two players.

Coaching Points

  • Wall pass - developing technique of a wall pass, which will support players to cooperate and pass around an opposing player. To achieve this players must have open body shape and receive on furthest foot and bounce back into the space in front of the team mate. Encourage players to receive whilst moving.

  • Passing behind the opposition defensive line - playing a penetrating ball in behind the opponents back for a team mate to run onto. Straight pass for diagonal run AND diagonal pass for a straight run.

Relays (15 mins)

Relays

  • Relays for motor skill development
  • Split into 4 groups so players have plenty of repetitions.
  • Run through each variation 2-3 sets.
  • Everyone goes twice each set.

Variations

  • Running to the end and back facing forwards.
  • Running to the end and back facing backwards.
  • Hopping on right leg
  • Hopping on left leg
  • Team mate lies down, player jumps and then lies down ensuring enough space between the two lying players. Next player leaps both (one at a time) then lies down and the cycle repeats. MUST BE TWO FOOTED LEAP.
  • Tunnels - players stand in a line with legs wide, last player crawls through all their legs and stands at front of line, next player from the back crawls through all their legs and stands at the front, cycle repeats.
  • Dribbling with a ball and back.
