WARM UP (15 mins)

WARM UP: Passing/ dynamic exercises

(1) Control ball in front, pass back, go to right

(2) Add dribble thru one side (call color before) back to other side

speed/quickness (15 mins)

1 Player between two cones.

Players will move feet (quick feet). When the coach shouts out a colour, the player will run around the coloured cone and return back to their original spot. 

Coaching Points:

- Fast feet 

- Form: stay on toes, athletic position, Knees Bent*

- Quick reaction to color

- awareness of the colored cones 

- lean into turn when changing direction. (bend knees)

Progression: Introduction of BALLS. Players will Box ball and will dribble TO (and around the cone).

Coaching Points:

- Same, quick feet

- small touches around cone

- Keep ball close to body to guarantee control

Progression (2): Players go in pairs. Feeder will stand 3 - 5 yards away from player. Once a color has been called the players will go to that cone (stop ball)/ change direction.

- Pts. for 1st player back.

SAQ passing (15 mins)

Players will work in pairs.

Working on one side, players will play a one-two with the feeder and run sideways/shuffle through the cones and run back through to return to their starting position. Players will swap roles after 1 minute of the practice with a 20 second rest in between. Players will also swap direction of their passes and runs after each go (if player initially passed with their right foot they will now use their left foot on the next time).(2 touches)

Coaching Points:

- High intensity throughout practice

- Fast feet through cones

- Adjusting feet just before the Balance

- 2 touches

(+) 1 touch if possible

Progression: Players will now play passes on each side of the cones rather than only using one foot at a time. 

(2) Progression: Players will use their furthest foot to control, pull it back and Pass back.

Coaching Points:

- Opening up body to receive the ball on the furthest foot. 

ADD Competitions: 

- How many passes can a player reach in one round?

- Can they get more than their partner?

- Can they beat their last score?

Conditions:

(+) When familiar with the drill, players must scan their shoulders before making the pass.
