Objective
To improve 1v1 attacking and defending
Organization
Set Up as shown in digram
1 player in goal,1 player acting as a defender. The rest of the players have a ball each and are set at the end of the area.
Defender can only move left to right
Progression
Defender stuck on the line but can not leave until the win the ball
Defender can move forward above line but not behind it(your choice on defender staying)
Open 1v1 if attacker gets a shot off defender stays.
Coaching Points
Exploit space, get 1st touch out of body, into space to make up ground
Assess the defenders position, angle and distance of approach
Keep ball close to body as you approach the defender
Use forward move to beat the defender – use your body or the ball
Accelerate past the defender and exploit the space created
Give an end product (Shot or cross)

Objective
To improve a players ability to sheild the ball & to create 2v1s
Organization
Set set up as before, with defenders restrictions removed. Players a must receive and sheild the ball for 5 seconds before trying to turn and shoot. The player who shoots becomes the defender and the player who passes the ball into play become the attacker. The origanal defender joins the back of the group.
Progression
The player who plays the pass into the attackers feet can now join the attack and make it a 2v1. The player that revevies the ball must still sheild the ball from the defender but this time only for 1-2 seconds.
Coaching Points
Create space as an individual to receive the ball
Lock in the defender – position your body between the defender and the ball
Body shape side on (1/2 turn) on 1st touch
Keep the ball within playing distance and as far away from the defender as possible
Strong body and arm, with weight on your back foot
Progression
Create space
Angle and distance of support
Timing and angle of supporting run
Disguise movement and pass
Exploit space created.

Objective
To Improve players ability to change direction and speed, while dribbling.
Organization
24x24 yard area
Each player on a ball, players follow coaches command to dribble with different sufaces of both feet.
Coaching Points
1.Soft touches with all surfaces
2.Head up (looking for space)
3.Change of direction
4.Change of pace (accelerate into space)
