Pressing Warmup (15 mins)

10x10

Play always starts with server.

1st: "Play right, go left" & "Press player opposite of you" - coach angle of approach

2nd: "Play left, go right" & "Press player opposite of you" - coach angle of approach

3rd: Player receiving picks direction - coach cover!

4th: if covering defender picks off pass - two attackers involved get pushups - restart with server!

*** "Make play predictable" - progression helps show the importance of pressuring runs and cover positioning themselves off of the run.

*** Mix in Extensive Dynamic Movements (larger space for longer)

Grid: 25x15

- Play starts with defender passing to attackers calling out game: "1v1", "2v2", "3v3"

- Attackers try to score on big goal, while defenders try to win it and counter to little goal.

- Scoring System (both teams): 1v1 = 1point, 2v2 = 2 points, 3v3 = 3 points

- Play for 2 minutes and switch roles

- "Make play predictable" - force outside

- "Line of Confrontation" - let them come to you

- "Pressure/Cover" - Pressure dictates cover positioning

Coaching Points:

- Invite opposition to build from the back - "Line of Confrontaton"

- "Make Play Predictable" - force outside!

- Introduce - Defensive "Overload" - can we create a numerical advantage and double - IF they are ready!

6v6: Field: 55x33 Four 2-minute games with 2 mins rest between games

- All restarts from the GKs

**Uninterupted Play: Coach within the run of play only. No stoppages. Keep balls available for restarts.

- Encourage creating a defensive block - "line of confrontation", which invites the opposition to play out from the back. "Around us, not through us." Are they ready for Organized Press?

- Attack in a 2-1-2

- Defend in a 2-2-1

*** Make sure to lead team through a proper cool down to end training.
