The focus of this session is to expose players in the Foundation Phase (9-11 years) to an enjoyable football environment using the eAcademy digital platform to further develop players' capacity to execute the 'scissors' move, emulating Sadio Mane as the LFC role model. Players will be exposed to a series of fun games and activities throughout the session to develop their attacking skills, generate excitement and a love for playing football 'The Liverpool Way.'

THE SESSION:
- 2 teams - adjust numbers to suit
- Score in any of the 4 mini-goals (no goalkeepers to increase success rates)
PROGRESSIONS/VARIATIONS:
- Bonus Points: 2 points if team scores in the 'red' goal (Liverpool colours). This encourages children to look up and change direction
- Make it directional: one team attacking two goals and defending the other two
- Add bigger goals and include goalkeepers to increase the challenge for players
- Option to complete 5 passes before you can score, which is what the LFC 1st team do with this game
KEY MESSAGES/POINTS:
- Close control
- Head up
- Be positive (look to score a goal)
- Explode away from the 'defender'
- Handle the ball in the traffic (Shoulders: Encourage players to scan the pitch to know what's around them)
- Use LFC role models (e.g. Salah: ability to go past an opponent when pressure is in front of you; Firmino: ability to wriggle out of pressure when its coming from behind you)
- Use LFC values (Ambition: try to emulate LFC role models; Commitment: praise children's effort to try new skills)

THE SESSION:
- Set up two small-sided-games and place one goal (3m x 2m) on each end line as shown
- Option to create penalty areas using disc markers
- Divide group into four (4) equal teams. E.g. 2 games of 3v3 for a group of 12 players
- Normal game, 1 point for a goal for the first 5 minutes
- To maximise game time, there is the option for the goalkeeper to start/restart play (place balls near goals)
PROGRESSIONS/VARIATIONS:
- A goal is worth 3 points if a player beats an opponent before they score. This creates an incentive to execute skills within a game, emulating LFC role models
- Change opponents every 5 minutes (play each team once)
- Every player needs to experience role of the goalkeeper (rotate after every game)
KEY MESSAGES/POINTS:
- Encourage children to be positive in 1v1 situations. Praise desired actions (e.g. executing scissors move or another LFC eAacdemy skill) without stopping the game
- Use LFC role models (e.g. Mane: Scissors move; Salah: ability to go past an opponent when pressure is in front; Firmino: ability to wriggle out of pressure when its coming from behind you)
- Use LFC values (Ambition: try to emulate LFC role models; Commitment: praise children's effort to try new skills)
