Whole
Let them play for 5 mins
Working with the Red team who are defending
How can the Red team defend to wait for support from the CH ( who's been caught out of position) & other midfield players.
Work with Primary defender in slowing the play down
What is the secondary defender going to do
Where is the seconday defender going to go
Where is the Red CH going to go (Why? cover & balance)
Let the players show you on there movemnts and actions. Ask them Why they are doing this.
Using defending principles when disorganised:
Deny
Delay
Deflect
Defend
Coach Reds:
Deny:
Work on body stance of defender ( side on sending the player outside)
Defender to have weight on back foot ready to react to attacking play
Delay:
Body stance of defender (sitting down ready to react)
Remain between the ball and goal as they will be 1st defender
Slow the play down to wait for recovery runners to help defend the goal
GK to talk to Primary defender (What's the best thing to do & where to send blues WMF player)
GK to communicate to other defenders where to help and mark or recover
Deflect
Work out prioritise risks
Allow the Blues to play in wide areas. Why? ( Keeps them away from Zone 14. Shot's on goal)
Defend
Does the primary defender commit to a challenge to prevent a crossing oppurtunity or shot.
Can they work on triggers to commit.
What are they? (Bad touch. weight of the ball if Blue trying a 1v1 situation)

Priciples of play 1
Work with the Primary Red defender who assess the sitiuation and goes to the Blue player with the ball.
Has he seen a trigger? What is that trigger ( bad touch, not looking at the ball & over hitting the ball)
Can he challenge & win the ball to start a Red attacking move? Or kick the ball out of play?
If Red's win the ball they can score in either small goal
Can primary defender slow the attacker down?
What does he do?( close attakers space DELAY)
If delayed the attacking play who responds to that move?
Who is the Secondary defender ? (Let them decide if CH or other FB)
Where should they go & Why? ( they try to get in front of Blue CF to make a challenge or stop a pass)
Whilst this has happened has the WMF player responded to the FB running down the line a overlap
Work with the GK and make sure the near post is guarded and that he's in good communication with PD, SD & TD Red defenders.
Can R MF players recover as support players
Where do the go & why?
Can Primary defender show the attacker down the line whilst closing his space down. How? (instead of running straight can he curve his run from preventing him going inside & showing him down the line. Thus DENYING space. Forcing the Blue attack to make a quick decision resulting in winning the ball
Challenge FB's to try and curve there run as to fool attacker and then close the space down quickly

See the guidance at the top of this page to understand why you are not seeing interactive Football/Soccer images.
Principles of play 2
A quick counter attack from Blues
Red FB's are out of position
Primary Red defender must quickly asses the situation.
How quickly can he DENY space for the attacker
Has he looked at which side secondary Defender will be coming from? ( This will be the closet to make a recovery run to: 1 Get to a challenge in 2 Recover being Primary Defender between ball & goal)
Primary defender MUST show Blue attacker this side by having the right body stance/position( side on away from goal. Good balance
Whilst this is happening Thirdary Red defender will try and recover and get infront of attacking Blue WMF player. Why? (to prevent a shot or intervine a pass and clear the ball away from goal)
GK to give positive communication to Primary defender also Secondary & Thirdary defender so that they can recover in time to prevent a shot on goal & disrupt a Blues attack
Challenge Red CH not to make a challenge unless 100% sure he will win the ball but slow the play down by pressing. Work on his body position while he has good balance to react.
Next phase get them to work out who is the Secondary defender, What should he do, where should he go ask him why?
What will the thirdary defender do: Where will he go

Obect of the game is for catch pass & move BUT only one of the 4 MF players to enter defending zone at any one time to make 3 defenders.
You need to pass to a attacking player in the RED coned end zone to score a point
