As a Coach we tend to spend too much time creating the real game in practice. This practice is essential in passing and receiving and give repetition in the habits needed for maintaining possession as a team
In this session I used 16 players, but it functions well with minimal of 8 as long as you have 2 equal groups
Through conditions we create habits that make us more aware as a player and more able as a team to keep possession. These simple habits need quick explanation at the younger age groups but will give our teams the ability to plan for the next pass.
Be ready to challenge with things like touch requirements, less soccer balls or even reducing the area size

Exercise 1 - Five yards apart in pairs players pass to the same outside player. Can you do this quickly/one touch

This is a great environment to lead into playing out of the back and back to the goalkeeper as per our goals and objectives
The two targets become the goalkeeper and the striker, and we play 4v4
The Two targets have the concept of how to move on the outside so jumping into these positions is easier
The coach occasionally serves balls into the goalkeeper to restart the play

Dynamic Movement
In an 11 plus format the players do 2 movement habits that will help them to move efficiently into a position of support
1. The players go up a cone (Moving backwards) cross over and then onto the next cone
2. Players move 2 cones back (backwards) and one up (forwards)
3. Players move 2 cones back one up and cross
