10 mins
Practice intention
- Att: To search and exploit space
- Def: To minimise space and win possession
Practice attention
- Att: Search to see how you can play around the opposition.
- Def: Search to see how quickly you can shut down the opposition
Task Design
- Each team sends 1 toad over to the opposite team's swamp.
- The toad is trying to capture the other team's frogs.
- The frogs are trying to collect as many flies as possible (red cones) and return them to their team's lilypad.
- If the frog reaches where the flies are, they can not be tagged; Frogs can only be tagged in the swamp.
- Only 1 fly (red cone) can be collected at a time
- If the toad tags a frog, the frog must go and wait in the frog trap (off the pitch behind their team's lilypad)
- If a frog successfully returns to their lilypad without being tagged, they can bank the fly (red cone) for 2 points or exchange it for a fellow trapped frog who would then be released to join back in the game. The cone would be returned to the red coned area by the frog being released (run around the outside of the game and back to their lilypad)
- If the toad tags all the frogs, the game is over and the toad wins 10 points for their team
- After 90 seconds the game ends. Red cones = 2 points. Frogs who are not trapped = 1 point
Constraints
- Task - Restrict how the frogs and toads can move. For example, toads hop on one leg and frogs can jump
- Task - Increase the number of toads in each swamp
- Task - give each frog a ball. If a toad wins possession in the swamp, they must dribble the ball to the lilypad area. This will earn their team 1 point (when you add this task constraint, you have the choice of keeping the frog trap or allowing the frogs to come straight back in the game once the toad stops the ball in the lilypad area)

20 mins
Component Intention
- In-possession: Outplay the direct opponent in order to score without conceding possession of the ball.
- Out-of-possession: Attempt to win back possession without affording the attacker opportunities to score.
Task Design
- Four-goal pitch layout (Size for 12 players = W:25m x L:20m)
- Pair players with an opponent. All pairs will play simultaneously on the same pitch.
- Create a 2m scoring zone at each end. Players must be inside the scoring zone to shoot.
- Designate a direction of play (e.g. Yellow player scores at the North End, Blue player scores at the South End)
Tweaks
- Task - Remove scoring zones.
- Task - Ball-mastery constraints (e.g. "Use only one foot" to force players to use different parts of that foot).
- Task - Change the size and shape of the playing area.
