Finding the pass to Split (10 mins)

Setup:

  • We're basing this session on 8 players, but can used for any amount of players as long as the space is adjusted
  • Field size: 20 x 30 yds
  • Two players working together. The player with the ball needs to find their partner who should be moving around in the designated space. 
  • Players can be dribbling until their partner is in passing sight to receive the ball

Adaptations (Progressions & Regressions):



Challenges, Conditions or Targets:


Limit touches in possession.




Key Technical/tactical points:

  • Passing with good weight/connection/direction.
  • Receiving: open body into space/turn away from pressure.  
  • Movements: create angle to support teammate, 2 steps left/right/forward/backwards
  • Emphasis on quick passing and movements to create passing angles.

Line Breaking Finish (20 mins)

Setup:

  • Current space being use, 30x40 with end zones
  • 10 players
  • A team scores by playing a leading pass to a player in the endzone. 
  • 3 sets of 10min games
The objective is for the players to look to play passes in behind the opposition.
