Football/Soccer Session (Academy Sessions): turning

marble kings

Organization:

1.20 x 20 yard area set up as shown

2.White players with ball at their feet, blue players holding soccer ball

Story/Description:

1.Marble Kings (defenders) start with their marble (ball) in their hands

2.Marble Kings then have to run around and hit another players marble with theirs

3.The two players then change roles

4.The game lasts for 30 seconds

Coaching Points:

1.Protect your marble by getting your body between it and the Marble King

2.Keep looking around for the Marble Kings so you can run the other way

Developments:

1.P – Add more Marble Kings

Turning - 4 Corners (15 mins)

Organization:

- Players evenly spread out among 4 corners

- Each player with ball

Instructions:

- Players dribble towards middle cone

- Perform specific turn and return to their line

- Next player goes

- Inside Chop, Outside Chop, Pull Back, U-Turn, Cryuff

Coaching Points:

- Controlled Approach

- Execution of Turn

- Body Between Defender / Ball

- Accelerate Out

Progressions:

- Relay Race / Keep track of turns as team

- Perform any turn you want

- Take out middle cone, players must turn on person diagonally

across from them

4 goal world cup

Organization:

1.30 x 30 yard area set up as shown

2.12 players split into four teams

3.Multiple balls with the coach

Instructions:

1.Players are divided into four teams and given a team name

2.Each player is given a number 1, 2 or 3

3.Each team has 3 lives

4.The coach plays a ball into the area and calls out a number

5.The player with the corresponding number enter the game

6.Objective is to score in one of the other three teams goal

7.When a goal is scored that team loses a life

8.When all lives are lost that team must turn their goal over – however they are not out of the game, they just cannot win the world cup

9.When a goal is scored or the ball leaves the area the game is over and the next round restarted by the coach passing in another ball and calling the next number

10.Last team remaining is the winner of the world cup
