THE SESSION:
Two pitches to be set up as seen on the image above. The Blue players cannot move outside the central box, whilst the Red team are on the outside box. The Red team are looking to complete 10 passes for one goal, while the Blue team are looking to press and intercept passes as often as possible. When the Blue team regain the ball, in two touches they must look to score a goal in one of the mini goals.
PROGRESSIONS:
Reduce the area
Take out the zone
KEY MESSAGES/POINTS:
-Prevent the opponent from playing forward
As a defensive unit, players should look to deny penetrative passes from playing forward by providing cover and delaying the attack whilst pressing the ball and forcing mistakes by the attacking team.
-Force play
By staying compact, defenders should look to force attackers to play specific ways by closing down their passing angles whilst attempting to intercept the ball.
-Regain the ball
Players should look to press the ball as individuals and as a unit whilst looking to intercept the ball to counter-attack to a mini goal quickly.

THE SESSION:
Technical Practice
Balls are worked down the left and right hand sides respectively and players stay in their position (may rotate with another player on same mannequin). Ball starts with GK, who plays to CB then plays to FB. Combination play through midfield with FB overlapping to receive and hit target player.
PROGRESSIONS:
- Change Combination
- CM's from both sides can combine rotate to play out in down either side (left or right)
- Add light pressure
KEY MESSAGES/POINTS:
-Movement
Players should use inventive movement to create space and move off the mannequins to replicate playing out of the back and pass the ball forward.
-Timing
To receive the ball and replicate game realism, players should look to time their runs to receive the ball by not moving too early nor too late.
-Midfield rotation
To combine effectively, players should use rotation in the middle of the field to create space and passing lines to move the ball forward.
