Aim
1. Develop movement off the ball in order to successfully carry out a counter attack.
2. Develop individual ball skills & defending skills.
3. Develop both defensive and attacking technical knowledge.
The Game
- The defenders and attackers must be ready to follow the initial pass and support their team, once the coach has given the call releasing them from their respective boxes.
- The initial attacker must hold onto the ball long enough for the attacking support to arrive.
- The attacker wins the ball from the long pass, and gives the ball to the attacking support to get a shot away as soon as possible. This does not mean a shot is required on first touch, build up play is quite often a neccesity.
Progression
- Change numbers in order to favour Attackers or Defenders.
- Vary the time before the coach makes the call to release the defenders & attackers into the game.
- Release defenders and attackers at different times in order to favour Attackers or Defenders.

3 v 3 - Decision making in the the transition (20 mins)
Aim
To develop and give the initial thought of what to do to exploit the opposition on a regain.
Do we counter attack? Do we keep possession and build up our play? Do we reset and go again?
The Game
The team in possession attempt to pass into their team mate through one of the target gates to score. If the defending team win the ball they are to transition immediately and attempt to score into one of their target gates, hitting their target player.
Progression
Introduce offside rule into the middle zone, to allow the defending team to squeeze and compress the play.
Once the target player receives the ball, he must play the ball to the defending team immediately creating another moment of transitional play.
