Drill - Moving With The Ball (15 mins)
Drill - Moving With The Ball (16 players)
Description - Players on the outside Red cones start with ball. They drive at the middle red cone at pace (big touches) as they approach the middle red cone (opposition player) they slow down & take & little touches before playing a punched pass into there team mates feet who has pulled off the back off the opposition facing the direction he wants to run into and following the same routine. Two balls in play to begin with at same time.
Progression - Add in a third ball but if things are going really well jump to 4 balls which will increase the intensity of the drill, which make tougher physically, mentally & most importantly more game realistic.
Coaching Points - Head Up, Control of Ball when running at pace (far enough away to build speed but close enough to not lose easy possession), close control as we approach opposition, judging the space between yourself & opposition so you can time the pass at right time to take opposition out of game (Arrogance of timing ) & give the next player the time to open up his body into the space & take his first touch in the direction he wants to attack.
