Creating & Exploiting Overloads (20 mins)
Organization:
12 players will be organized into 2 teams of 4 player + 2 GK, 2 neutral players into the wide sides. Blue team start in possession and may play. The red team will start out of possession. Neutral players switch roles every 4 mins. Size is rectangle 33m length, and 30m wide (add 2 zones 5m).
Explanation: Players on blue shirt start on possession and players on red start on defense.
Red team start always with the ball with GK. Attacking players must use short passing and control to move the ball quickly and after 3 passes, they have to play a diagonal pass at the right or left side using the neutral players, a neutral player join the counterattack and create 3v2 in the attacking zone , at the same time attackers without the ball must make different runs to score or do a wall pass to eliminate a defender. Use GK to create numerical advantage during built up.
Progressions:
- 2 touches per player, the neutral players have free touches to dribble inside.
Target: Score goals.
Condition: Players on possession must do 3 passes before playing a diagonal pass with the neutral players. if the players out of possession regain the ball and score, the ball restart from the otherwise, the ball always starts with GK on possession team.
Challenge: offensive players without the ball provide a support, make run to unmark and move quickly into the attacking shape to create opportunities to score.
Coaching Points:· Create width.
· Provide support, scan and use your arm to protect the ball
