Sesión de Fútbol (Difícil): Midfield box lead in practice

Area:

Set up a 15m wide x 20m long rectangle 10m away from goal as shown.

Equipment:

Balls 3 x coloured bibs, cones/flats/discs

Objective:

Using  12 players, split them into 3 teams. 2 teams in the middle and the team on the outside. The Wide players on the outside play for either team. The player on each end plays for the team in the designated target. so the blue no. 9 in the green target is playing No. 9 for the greens and the blue 9 in the red zone is playing for the Reds. The objective is to try and keep possesion and score by hitting the target No.9 in your target zone. Both teams can use the wide blue players no. 11 and no.7 who play for the team in possesion. After 5 mins, swap out blues for one of the teams. If a team scores, the possesion starts with the team who concedded. If a player kicks the ball out of play, the opponents starts possesion from the back of their side of the zone.

Progression 1:

Assign positions to the 4 players on each team to replicate box midfield. ( 2 x No. 8's & 2 x No. 10's). Encourage them to play in the style of that dedicated position.

Progression 2:

Turn the No .9 in the green target zone into a goal keeper. Play starts with the greens from the Blue No. 9 in the red zone and try and play through and break out  into the green target area and try and score. the reds are only allowed to drop into the green target zone once a pass or player dribbles into it. once in the zone their is a 10 second window to score. if a goal is scored or if no goal is scored from running out of time or ball going out of play then the play starts at the begining but the reds are attacking and the greens are defending. if the team defending win possesion they try to score my hitting their target No. 9 in the zone furthest away from the goal. Again the wide players play for both teams.
