"Castle Conqueror"
Dribble your way through, defend your castle, and strike the winning blow!

Set up:

Area: A 30x30 yard grid divided into zones, dribbling zone & shooting zone

Cones: Yellow cones mark the dribbling zone and a shaded "no-entry" area in front of the castle.

Activity with gradual progressions:
  • Dribbling Warm-Up:

  • Players dribble within their designated area, ensuring they avoid crossing the line of yellow cones
  • Encourage players to use different parts of their feet, accelerate into open spaces, and be creative with their dribbling.
  • Number Assignment:

  • Assign each player a specific number from 1-5.
  • Players continue to dribble within the area, waiting for their number to be called
  • Individual Shooting:
  • When the coach calls out a specific number (e.g., "1"), that player must dribble out of the area and head towards the goal to shoot.
  • The player must take their shot without entering the yellow shaded area in front of the goal.
  • Bonus points are awarded if the player hits the ball off the cones positioned at the bottom corners of the goal.
  • Repeat until each player has had two or three attempts.
  • Target Challenge:
  • Continue as above, but if the player’s shot hits a mannequin or the central ball on a cone, they lose 1 point
  • Attacker vs. Defender (Tagging)
  • The coach now calls two numbers. The first number is the attacker, who follows the same process as before.
  • After a 2-3 second pause, the coach calls a second number, which becomes the defender.
  • The defender attempts to tag the attacker on the shoulder before they can shoot.
  • If the defender succeeds in tagging, they earn 1 point, and the attacker loses 1 point
  • Rotate until all players have had a turn as both attacker and defender.
  • Attacker vs. Defender (Tackling):
  • This time, after the coach calls the first number for the attacker, the defender can now attempt to steal the ball instead of just tagging.
  • The play continues until the ball goes out of play, the defender successfully returns the ball to the dribbling zone, or the attacker takes their shot.
  • 2v1 Attack:
  • The coach calls three numbers: the first becomes the defender who leaves their ball in the dribbling zone and positions themselves in the shooting zone. The other two players form a team with one ball and attempt to attack and score against the defender.
  • The play continues until the ball goes out of play, the defender returns the ball to the dribbling zone, or the attackers take their shot.
