If opponent is playing long, shaded area is where we want to trap them
*Team objective must be to direct opponent to the middle of field for midfielders to take opportunities to dispossess*
9's:
-Hold position, keep opposition full back in sight and look to move to close off wide options
-If ball goes one side, Near side 9 curve your run to force opponent inside, Far side 9 tuck into middle of the field ready opponent to play back to centre back. No need to press, just close off opportunity to switch
10:
-Stay central, aim to close off the nearest option inside when 9's funnel opponent into middle
-If Centre back dribbles forward with ball, be ready to direct them in your chosen direction, be conscious of their 6's movement and use cover shadow to block pass if possible
*Hold position as long as possible, no need to press and leave space behind*
6 & 8:
-Man mark opposition midfielders, keep them facing their own goal
-Be proactive to close off inside passing options from wide players
7 & 11:
-Near side wing back hold position and ensure you are level or closer to your own goal than their winger, ready to force trap them out wide between you and the side line.
-Far side wing back tuck into back line if extra player to mark, tuck into middle of field if not needed in back line, ready for opposition switch
*If opposing team is also using wing backs, go man to man*
2, 5 & 3:
-Hold position behind centre circle, man to man with opponent striker/strikers
-One player always ready to step into space between the 6 & 8 if the ball gets flicked on or played behind our midfield
*Communication is key as incoming ball must be prioritised by closest player and remaining attackers must be marked by other centre backs.
*Suss out goalkeepers kicking range as quickly as possible, back line stand 5-10 yards back from predictable range ready to step forward to ball*

Follow this if opponent is playing out the back, refer to mid block if they play long
*Team objective must be to direct opponent to the middle of field for midfielders to take opportunities to dispossess*
9's:
-Near side 9 Press Opposing centre back using cover shadow to deny pass to their full back on the ground and force them to play to the middle
-Far side 9 hold position ready for switch, if they play back to Keeper or other centre back carry out same steps
*If Full back drops into shaded areas either side of 18 yard box this is still 9's responsibility to press and trap out wide*
10:
-Stay on edge of box closing the option to opposition 6
-If Centre back dribbles forward with ball, force them in the direction of the near side 9, be conscious of their 6's movement and use cover shadow to block pass if possible
*Hold position as long as possible, no need to enter their box*
6 & 8:
-Man mark opposition midfielders, keep them facing their own goal
-Good teams will rotate central players with wide players, be conscious of this and ready to hand over responsibility to Wing backs if central midfielder moves into wide channel
Shaded area outside box is where we want the opponent to play, allowing us to match them man for man or outnumber them. Prioritise stopping their forward progress above stealing the ball.
7 & 11:
-Near side wing back hold position between opponent full back and winger until ball progresses forward or ball get's played over 9's head to opposition full back. Best case scenario will be to intercept pass or challenge in the air. Worst case scenario, stop them turning
-Force full back to play inside, blocking option to winger/Force winger wide isolating them to wide channel
-Far side wing back tuck into back line if extra player to mark, tuck into middle of field if not needed in back line to support midfielders
*If opposing team is also using wing backs, go man to man*
*If our 9 is forcing full backs into shaded area to side of 18 yard box be ready for predictable pass up line to supporting player*
2, 5 & 3:
-Hold position on half way line, man to man with opponent striker/strikers
-One player always ready to step forward into space between the 6 & 8 if the opponent chooses to play longer in behind our 6 & 8
*Communication is key as incoming ball must be prioritised by closest player and remaining attackers must be marked by other centre backs.
