Organization:
3v2+1
Instructions:
Players play 3v2 with one neutral player for possesion
one attacker is allowed past the middle cones, only way ball can be played into attacking zone is by passing the ball. Neutral player is not allowed to pass through zones they are only allowed to help posses in defending zone.
When blue wins the ball, they pass to attacking blue player on other zone and transfer over leaving onmy one red player behind. Now its the blues trying to keep possession.
Coaching Points:
-Head up. finding the passing lane
-Can players be patient and posses the ball (play side ways or back)
-play to feet or into space.
Progressions/Regressions:
Regression- allow dribbling through zone
Progression- remove neutral player/remove middle line

Play within the shaded area
Split yoour team into two or more eaqual teams. In their teams, the defending team has all the socccer balls. Defender passes a ball to attacker and quickly closes down and looks to win the ball back.
Focus:
1. Close down space quickly
2. Arrive controlled
3. Initiate contact and win the ball

1.40 x 40 yard area divided into 4 – 10 x10 yard squares, set up as shown
2.4 teams, 1 per square
3.1 ball per team
4.Spare balls nearby
Description:
1.Each player in a team is given a number 1 to 4
2.Teams pass their ball inside their assigned square
3 Coach calls out GO and players must dribble over to next square( start going clockwise) then counter clockwise
4 Coach calls out pass, players then pass across to the next square( start going clockwise) then counter clockwise
5.The Coach calls out a number that player must move to the next square (clockwise) to become a defender – 3v1
6.The team that can possess their ball the longest wins the point
7.The first team to five points is the winner
Coaching Points:
1.Accuracy of pass
2.Weight of pass, Part of the ball, part of the foot
3.Movement to create passing angles
4.Combinations with 1 and 2 touches
5.Using 1st touch to move away from pressure
6.When the pass is made across players must recognize that a pass is coming from the other grid and be ready to pass- tendency for the players to be watching the pass across not waiting pass coming from other team
Progression:
Make it a competition between groups

8 v 8 Game: Defending as a Team (20 mins)
Set-Up: Field is 70yds long x 50yds wide with a half-way line and 2 goals at either end. Two equal teams, with 2 GK's. Balls distributed beside goal to keep the game flowing when balls go out of play.
Instructions: Play 8 v 8 with offside in effect. Re-start from the GK when a goal is scored or ball goes out of play.
Coaching Points: Stay switched on - immediate transition from attacking to defending
1st Defender tactics - a.Make a decision which way to show attacker b.Curved run to show attacker one way or the other c.Close down space early and quickly d.Sideways on body position e.Get low f.Stay on feet g.Watch the ball h.Be aggressive - initiate contact
2nd Defender Tactics - a.Communicate to 1st defender where to show the attacker b.Provide cover c.Be close enough to 1st defender to step in and engage attacker if 1st defender gets beat d.Be aware of other attackers and dangerous space
