Aim: To develop players control and technique to allow them to become more comfortable on the ball.
Drill: Players are split into even groups, one group on the outside with a ball and one in the middle without a ball. Players in the middle are the ones performing the exercise and the players on the outside are the servers.
Coach progresses through different activities including turning with the inside/ outside of foot, opening the bod to receive the ball etc.
Key Points: Players are encouraged to use work on both of their feet in order to improve their ball control.
Players should work on activities at game speed once confident in order to make the skills game related.
Focus on developing correct technique and body shape.

Aim: To develop the players first touch skills already worked on in a game like stiuation.
Drill: Each team has four players in the middle and can use the 4 players on the outside. Players on in team try to keep the ball in a possession situation. Focus is on the quality of the first touch to give the player enough time to make a pass.
When a team is in possession they are in a 8 v 4 situation because they can use the 'bouncers' players on the outside. Swap teams every few minutes to maintain high intensity.
Variations: If players are having difficulty a player can be removed from one team and put onto the other to give an extra number making it easier to keep possession.
Challenge the players by seeing who can get the most successful passes in a row.

Ball Mastery
Aim: Improve player’s ability to manipulate the movement of a ball.
Drill: Each player has a ball inside the square. Player’s begin by dribbling around the grid using different parts of both of their feet. The coach can change to the conditions e.g. only right foot, or only inside of foot.
Coaches teach players different skills to work on e.g. toe taps, inside taps, V’s, triangles.
Key Points: Focus on correct technique before speed. Work on getting the movements correct at walking speed before increasing to a jog.
Encourage players to get as many touches on the ball as they can.
The aim of this activity is to make players comfortable on the ball so that they feel confident in any situation.
