STAYING IN YOUR BUBBLE - USE A VARIETY OF GAMES TO GET THE KIDS MOVING
some examples below.....
AGILITY COURSE
- Obstacle SAQ course
- Can they beat their time
- Add in a ball and different challenges
TARGET GAME
- League 2 to Champions League
- Passing accuracy
- Can they pass in between set cones, if they do they move up to next target
- Each target is further away from the last
- If they miss a target 2 times in a row they drop down to the previous target
CAPTURE THE FLAG
- Using bibs as nets to throw onto a ball rather than having a tail
- Have zones that each team have to get to
- The balls are known as easter eggs, which team can collect and protect the most eggs
SKILL ZONE
- Ball mastery area
- Give the children freedom to show off their skills
- Then can you show them some?
- Step over (The Santa Skip?)
- Drag back
- Cruyff turn
- Ronaldo chop
- Rainbow flick
- Etc....
TRUCK & TRAILER
- Players in pairs
- 1 with a ball, 1 without
- Can the player with the ball lose his partner
- 30 sec timer - then they all stop - if the sleigh is close enough to steal the ball from the reindeer then
they swap over
- Swap partners after 4/5 goes
- Encourage them to check their shoulders, vary their speed of dribbling, use their skills etc...
NUMBERS GAME
- Eash player has a number
- Coach cals out random numbers and players react to play a 1v1 / 2v2 / 3v3 etc...

STAYING IN YOUR BUBBLE / AGE GROUP
PLAY lots of games / matches. Set up a mini-tournament
IMPORTANCE on the kids playing - as they haven't played for months
LOTS OF POSITIVE ENCOURAGEMENT
Tuesday- Spain - Lots of technique and skills based challenges. Using the ball - possession play.....Learn how to play like Spain (be creative with your session plans)
Weds - Germany - Lots of games where you can win either individually or as a team. As Germany always find a way to win!! For the conditioned games, maybe we can look at playing on the counter attack, so encourage quick decision making and playing forward
Thursday - England - Lots of teamwork play, can we encourage team work. In the conditioned games, can we utilise a magic man (as England will rely on Harry Kane to create or score, so can we bring this into our games)
Friday - Finals Day - We will play the finals of the week's round robin tournament in each group in the Euro Finals arena at he end of the day. As well as using Purple barney throughout the day.

COACHES CHALLENGE FOR 30 MINS AFTER LUNCH
THEN GO INTO A ROUND ROBIN TOURNAMENT WITHIN EACH AGE GROUP, BUT THE GAMES WILL HAVE A CONDITION
WE NEED TO HAVE 2 TEAMS FROM EACH AGE GROUP TO PLAY IN THE FINALS ON FRIDAY!! THE WHOLE WEEK WILL BE LIKE THE GROUP STAGES OF THE EURO'S, LEADING INTO THE FINAL ON FRIDAY......so please keep track of which teams win on each day. Try to make them fair, so that the games are competitive.
examples:
OVERLOAD SMALL SIDED GAME
- Self explantory
- 2 teams - 1 with an overload
- Can the team with the overload make it count?
- How can the team with less work together to defend?
TRANSITION GAME
- Split into 3rds
- Can the team in the defensive 3rd pass through the middle 3rd to the attackers
- Alternatively could play a match whereby:
- Once a team scores they immediately attack the other goal
- Defending team has to quickly transition to defend oppositie goal
BOUNCE PLAYER GAME:- The team/teams not playing could be bounce players around the outside of the pitch
- So in possession, a team has a numerical advantage
- For the older groups, a bounce player could join in the attack once they have been passed to, creating an attacking overload
BATTLE GOALS:
- 4 teams, 4 goals
- All play each other at the same time
- Once a team concedes 4 goals they are out
- When you have 2 teams left, they have defend 2 goals each
- Encourages teams to think tactically, to attack and defend
- Decision making
