Basic Passing and Receiving
Player B checks off his cone to recieve a straight pass from Player A.
Player B controls the ball with his first touch.
Player A then checks off his cone to recieve a return pass from Player B.
Repeat.
Progressions:
Demand certain types of first touches e.g. Outside of the foot, control and pass with weak foot, take first touch across body, turn out with first touch etc.
Coaching Points:
With younger groups, make sure the basics are correct e.g. calling for passes, sharp movement away from cones to recieve ball, passes played using inside of foot.
With more advanced groups, demand more variations e.g. different types of passes, different types of control, disguise on movement and passes etc.

Passing/Movement Drill
Player A passes to Player B.
Player A follows his pass and makes an angle to recieve the ball from Player B.
Player B sets the ball for Player A, with a first time pass (If possible).
Player A then plays plays a first time pass to Player C.
Player B follows Player A's pass, making an angle to recieve the ball from Player C.
Player C sets the ball for Player B, with a first time pass.
Player B then plays a first time pass to player D.
Repeat pattern around the square.
Coaching Points:
Emphasis needs to be put on passing accuracy, technique, first touch and movement.
Ensure that passes go to feet and moving players give appropriate angles to recieve the ball.
Differentiate between techniques used for straight passes and passes changing direction of play.
If players aren't capable of playing off one touch, modify tempo and touch limitations to suit the group.

Small Sided Conditional Game
Split group in to small teams.
Lay out a small pitch, with appropriate goals.
Conditions:
With basic groups: Demand a number of completed passes before a team is allowed to score, all players must be in oppositions half before team is allowed score.
With more advancd groups: Limit players to a certain number of touches (depending on ability), demand players play with weaker foot, demand different types of finishes (Header, Volley, One-touch finish etc)
Coaching Points:
At every level, put emphasis on movement off the ball and creating and exploiting space. Encourage all players to look for the ball. Give players the confidence to express themselves on the ball and affect the game positively. Promote patient build-up.
Stop and correct poor sequences of play. Stay positive while giving instructions and recreating sequences and moves.
