Problems
I watched our next opponents last Friday and this is the observations I made.
Gowerton College play this system and leave the front 3 players high whilst out of possesion.
They defend with a back 4 and a deep lying midfielder who will mark our No10 man for man, following him around the pitch.
They attack with pace with one fullback joining in dependant what side the build up is on.
Both advanced midfielders look to get very high up the pitchand even beyond front men.
They will look to play into feet and wont look to turn our defenders.
Detail
In possesion the key to most of our play will be our No10 moving thier deep lying midfielder to create space for other players.
Both strikers will play in between centre backs and full backs not allowing deep lying midfielder be able to screen and also giving spaces for our midfielders to rotate and make runs forward.
Our deep lying midfielder will sit and protect with our full back joining in the attack, this will leave 4v3 in our favour.
We currently have been playing a 3-5-2 system, but we have a couple of players out through injury and I feel this system will best suit the game on Wednesday
Looking to work patterns and also coach the what ifs.
Opposition will start with a mid block defending allowing centre backs to get of the ball we will look to use pattern 1 and 2playing through and around them
Opposition will play with a high press we will look to use pattern 3 playing over them
Timings
5-10 mins Walk through patterns setting problems of opposition defenders. (looking at alternatives if required)
10-15 mins Also look at the defensive points and keeping the balance of our team
15-25 mins Free play also looking at set pieces for and against.
Balls will be placed on the side of the pitch and at the side of either goal.
Objectives.
The 11v11 will be centred on reaffirming the detail issued in the shaddow play. Based on real time problems faced during the game.
I will coach around a number of problems that will be caused by variations in the opposition stratagy in defending, (High press and mid block)
This will link the detail to the shaddow play shows realistic alternatives and solutions to the problems that arise.
