INDIVIDUAL DEFENDING
ORGANISATION: 2 Mirrored Play Areas: 35 X 35
Starting point= winger crosses ball into box for Blue defender to clear under pressure from Red striker, THEN opposite winger pings ball to red attacker for a 1 v 1 with same Blue defender (attacker has 10 secs to score- this makes defender front him up quickly). If defender regains possession he has 2 targets (gates) to pass through.
PROGRESSION; 2v2 3v3 etc.
COACHING POINTS:
Deal with cross effectively, meet at highest point.
Then there has to be a quick reaction to facing up the attacker, try to force him 1 way (onto his weaker foot). Move feet quickly in good jockying position- try to DELAY as much as possible. If he gets shot off, react quickly for rebounds
