Set Up: Half field at Pine Glen (split in half). Supply of balls on the outside with a neutral server/winger. A goal on each end line.
Players: 4 blue + GK vs. 3 red + GK. Neutral server/winger on the outside.
Description: SSG with regular rules but with the following conditions - 1) In order for blue to score, all players must be past the half way line. 2) Once a goal is scored in the red goal, the server breaks down the line to deliver a cross to the blues (who are now attacking the opposite goal, reacting to get forward to score another goal). Red react to defend the opposite goal. If the cross comes in but does not lead to a goal, red can now counter attack the opposite way.
Key Factors:
When defending: 1st, 2nd and 3rd defender principles. Staying compact - get numbers behind the ball.
Make proper recovery runs.
When counter attacking: quickly push forward, get proper disersal, look to support the ball.

Transition - Defense to Attack (15 mins)
Set Up: 40*40 area with a central zone (10*40) marked off by flags or cones. 3 mini goals on either end line. Supply of balls along the outside.
Players: 12-16 depending on numbers. 3-4 teams of 4 players. Can have one team resting. 4v4v4.
Description: Blue team is confined to the middle zone. Their job is to cut off any passes that come within their area. When blue cuts off a pass, they now can attack the goals that the team which gave the ball away was standing in front of. Blue now transitions from defense to attack. Objective for red and yellow is to maintain possession while passing through the grids. One player from red and yellow are allowed inside the central area (as shown above). Can execute simple combinations such as a wall pass. After 4 minutes rotate the team in the middle.
Key Factors:
When possession is won - patience is key. Don't simply kick the ball away.
Firm and accurate passes.
Communication is key.
Transition together as a team.
Progressions:
Allow two attacking players to enter the middle zone.
Attacking players move anywhere - middle team need to react quickly to attack the goal of the team that lost possession.
