Description
Goalkeeper - (GK) I want JIMBO to be a leader and organiser who literally directs the entire game from the goal. From goal you have the best angle to see how play is moving, and any potential threats. I want you to take a positive starting position to intercept any deep flung through balls. Be quick to recycle the ball and demand options from your defence / midfield for short options, but do not be afraid to go direct to our leading strikers.
Centre Backs – (RCB & LCB) You must be able to defend 1v1, organise the team from the back and play safe passes; you must also understand zonal and man marking, where to set the line of restraint, when to push, hold or drop the line, and be dominant in the air.
As we commit forward as a unit you need to remain defensively disciplined. Depending on there attacking threat, chose how high we set our defensive line and ensure you demand the cover from the CDM. You don’t want him sat on your toes, make sure he is giving you the defensive protection that’s needed.
In possession I still want you to be assured and comfortable playing from the back. But having 2 committed attackers can you turn the opposition defence with a ball into the channels/ over the backs.

Description
Wing Backs – (RWB & LWB) You must work tirelessly attacking 50% -defending 50% - you must build great relationship with centre midfielder and centre back on your side and strikers. This is very important in terms of understanding each other’s movements. Collective team attacking movements require players understand how to create space, the importance of timing runs, being aware of defenders & teammates positioning and knowing how to create overloads in attack.
You must understand when to surge forward, underlap, overlap, be able to recognise and create attacking overloads, be calm in possession, possess 1v1 ability, have an excellent passing range, be an accurate crosser of the ball, willing to work hard for the team and be accountable for all defensive responsibilities.
In possession your forward runs will create width in the attack and form overload match-up & marking problems for the defense to solve.
Out of possession you need to show the same desire to get back into your defensive line of 4. With no natural wide protection from midfield, you need to be local and help organise to minimise any wide threat.

Description
Defensive Centre Midfielder –(DCM) The defensive centre mid is the pivot player that will sit just in front of the two centre backs at the bottom of the diamond. I want the CDM to be efficient with their passes both long and short range. DCM can hit direct penetrating balls for the strikers to run onto if the opposing team is holding a high line. Keeping play simple and not seeing easy turn overs of possession. The DCM helps establish the tempo of the game and keeps the ball moving with simple, efficient and quick ball movement.
Out of possession I want you to work off of the toes of the CB, breaking up play being dominant in the arial duels and in a tackle. Make sure you give the CB the required cover, concentrate efforts on protecting the centre of the pitch, and winning the midfield battle.

Description
Centre Midfielder – (LCM & RCM) The CM serves as the ink between the DCM and forwards. You have equal defensive and attacking duties, again a testing position on your fitness. I want you to be efficient with your passing, and dictate the pace of the game, be willing to work hard for the team without the ball (ball winner) and be able to exploit the opponent’s defense with penetrating passes or runs. I need you to be a physical presence, winning the midfield duels and equally have the technical finesse to create attacking threats. You are in the engine room, and can’t afford to go hiding be accountable for all 90 minutes.
The centre mid must form a working relationship with wingback, attacking centre mid and the forwards. The DCM sits deeper most of the game as the LCM & RCM in the diamond present passing options for the DCM, CB’s and WB’s. The link from DCM to the CM in terms of ball possession is critical. The ACM is the playmaker and serves as the main attacking partner for the CM. The CM wants to get the ball into the ACM as much as possible. The partnership and understanding of roles and responsibilities between the DCM, ACM and Forwards are very important. The CM must also use the WB’s (wingbacks) to create width in the attack. Using the wingbacks wide in possession will stretch the defense and open up space in the middle for penetrating runs and passes

Description
Attacking Centre Midfielder – (ACM) You must, have excellent vision for penetrating passing, be creative and unpredictable, be able to play quick combinations, shoot in tight spaces and always be considered a threat to score when on the ball. The ACM will combine and inter-change with the forwards. The ACM will need to work effectively with the other CM’s & forwards. By enlarge it’s a free role, find those pockets of space to influence the game.
You will be expected to work hard on the defensive side of the ball. I want you to lead pressing in the attacking third when possession is lost, and be prepared to drop in as part of the midfield unit helping to defend if we are under sustained pressure.

Forwards – (F) We’ll be employing two forwards rather than our 1 which is played in our 4-2-3-1 formation. There should be a solid partnership between the forward pair, you need to be prepared to work with and for one another, and your team. The forwards and the attacking centre midfielder must create an effective understanding & partnership between each other. You need to lead the line with energy, in possession I want you to be looking to exploit the space behind the opposition. As we as coming to show feet. Do not be afraid to shoot.
