Description

Organisation (Practice Layout & Transition)

Use half of the pitch. Place mini goals on the half way line either side.

Formation 11v11

Red 4-2-3-1 taken out #10,#11,#7,#9

Blue 3-2-4-1 taken out all three CB

Coach team Red

Problem : Blue #9 and midfielders are creating 3v1 overload vs Red fullbacks and Blue #9 is making a run behind fullbacks to the corner ready to put the cross in the box.

Solution : CB covers the fullbacks. Red midfielders shuffle to create 3v3. When the Blue wingers receive the ball, the Red backline looks to move up, creating an offside trap for the Blue #9

What if : If Blue #9 beats offside trap? Fullbacks must try to delay the ball. CBs run to protect the box. Midfielders protect the edge of the box.

What if : If Blues switch play? Reds re-shape and shuffle quickly to the other side.

Working block : 4 mins x 2 with 2 mins rest

SSG

Problem : Both Blue #6's commit forward creating 4v3 in central area

Solution : Reds stay compact and narrow. Leave no gaps between the defensive line and midfielders. Look to put pressure on bad passes or bad first touch.

What if : If Red win the ball? Look to play direct to #9

What if : If the Blues play the ball to #9, CB must force him backward. The other CB must cover the space.

Working block : 4 mins x 2 with 2 mins rest

Technique : Communication from the Red backline to set offside trap

Use body to shield the ball for Red #9
