Organization:
Need a large open space for players to run around in.
Description:
Set up a defined playing area. I would recommend starting this game without balls first. a couple player wears a tail (simply a pinnie tucked into their shorts) and tries to keep away from the other players. Perhaps the coach could wear the tail for the first game as some players may never want to wear it. If a player's tail is removed the player that grabs it should wear the tail and continue running to stay away from the other players.
Add soccer balls to the players chasing the tails. They now have to dribble their balls under control while trying to grab the tails. This game can be played in squared area or from line to line.
Coaching Points:
- shielding
- soft touches (small taps)
- awareness or open space

Organization
In Soccer Freeze Tag, all the players except the catchers have possession of a ball. Players move freely within a grid to avoid the catchers. If someone is tagged they should stand still (freeze) with their legs open holding the ball above their head (to indicate they are frozen). To re-enter the game a free player must pass the ball through the frozen players legs and free them. Game continues until everyone is caught.
(Players are tagged when the catcher touches their ball with their foot)
Focus
This game not only encourages dribbling and observation, but also team play for both the free players and catchers (when more than one catcher is playing).
Progression
A further progression of this drill is to play with two catchers as indicated. For the free players an additional condition could be to play with just one foot (right or left).
Coaching Points
-ball control and evade the catchers
