Use the centre circle, 8 players on the outside and 3 players on the inside. Use 1, 2, 3 balls. Players in the middle hold a bib in their hand.
Instructions
Players (A) on the outside pass the ball to each other, players on the inside (D) try and steal the ball, either by tackling or interception.
If A pass doesn't reach team mate he/she swaps with D
If D intercepts the ball he/she swaps with the A that made the pass
Coaching Points
Attackers
- control, quick control to give maximum time to pass
- passing, accurate strong passes. Soft passes will put pressure on receiver
- head up looking for pass and defender
- Don't wait for the defender to get close, look for quick passes
Defender
- Quick movement
- Head up and try and anticipate the direction of pass
- speed and agility
- body shape, try and encourage a pass in a certain direction
- Team work
Progression
- Decrease number of touches 3 / 2

- Pass then dribble out to the cones behind
- Go round the cone
- Do a skill round the cone
- 3 keep ups at the cone
- recieve the ball at the cone (long pass)
Focus is on Repitition
If we have odd numbers, one player must dribble down the middle, players must make passes without the ball hittinng the dribbler or his / her ball. Keep swapping positions. This adds more 'variable' to the practice stectrum
