my philosiphy on attacking goal kicks and the roles and responsibilites are as follows. I have the philosiphy of getting most of my team withing a likely area where the ball will firstly be delivered and secondly its a numbers game to pick up the second balls

Goalkeeper: Taking kick aimimg for the area where player 10 runs in.

Role: Good delivery to this are and

Responsibilites: Be in a good position, if first ball is lost and it comes through could he be in a position to help out defenders and if he isnt able to he will have to drop to take up a deeper position.

3 Starting wide left .

Role: Marking wide player of the opposition.

Responsibilites: Both to compete with the attacking player off the initial goal kick, and to also track run if wide player looks for flick on off the strikers.

5 and 6 starting more central .

Role: Both will be marking the opposition forwards from behind and both goal and ball side.

Responsibilites: Staying with runners if they go beyond and to also compete for first ball if they are stronger than the forwards they are up against .

2 Starting on right almost inline with the middle of the pitch.

Role: Narrow the pitch and in and around the opposition wide left player.

Responsibilites: To mark wide player and be responsible in staying with run if they look to go beyond. If the wide player stays wide, then he will have to put himself in a position where he can cover the centre back and also be able to get to the wide player if the ball gets transfered.

4 Starting on the toes of both forwards.

Role: He has the biggest responsibility of competing with either striker by defending from the front., not letting the forward bring the ball down and only flick on to our centre back.

Responsibilites: He is responsible for both strikers but get dictated to by the communication from both centre backs.. also if the ball is played shorter into midfield he will have to go and close down one of the midfielders, depnding on the time and space he has on the ball.

8 Strating in middle of pitch.

Role: to almost deal with both midfielders, tracking runs so far onto centre backs but also looking for secnd balls.

Responsibilites: To try and get on as many second balls as possible , getting in front of opposition midfielders and keeping play simple once winning ball back.

9 and 10 starting in between both centre back and full back both sides.

Role: To get in between both players and not allow the ball to get played out but to go long to our strength in numbers.

Responsibilites: They will not only split the defenders from the goal kick but then get themselves the other side of them to pick up the ball if it gets headed back into their area.

7 Wide left starting closer to half way line

Role: To be in a position to threaten the full back but also close to the oppoition player behind him giving him less space and time to work in.

Responsibilites: To firstly stop the full back getting on the ball, then closing the space behind him not giving goalkeeper the option tho drop the goal kick into wide mans feet. Then be in a position to get on the ball if we win the first header.

11 on the right almost in the middle of the pitch.

Role: To threaten opposition left back, but also make the pitch smaller so there is more bodies within a condensed area.

Responsibilites: To stop full back getting on the ball , to condense play and be in a position get on the ball if we will the initial haeder.

Strengths: The area has become smaller as we have a lot of bodies in and around where the ball should be played. having a dedicated midfielder to do the job of competing with the strikers allowing the centre backs to pick up the flick ons.

Weaknesses: If the opposition are able to paly out and switch play we are very condensed and one big diagonal ball could cause us problems.
