Give & Go (10 mins)

Organization/Setup:

  • 24x40yd field split in half
  • 12x40 5 players per channel - 
    • Left side - 5, 3, 6, 8, 11
    • Right side - 4, 2, 6, 8, 7

Instructions/Achievement Criteria:

  • Focus on give & go from fullbacks and wingers with center-midfielders
  • Pattern passing - 5 -> 3 -> 6 -> 3 -> 8 -> 11 to finish in mini-goal
  • Keep time for competition against opposite side

Coaching Points/Questions:

  • Timing of checking away from defender (cone) to receive pass
  • ABC
    • Angle of support 
    • Body shape
    • Check your shoulder
  • Follow through of pass from fullback to continue speed after release of pass to receive again immediately 
  • Quality of pass (accuracy + pace)
  • Catch & play - 2 touch (receive with back foot, pass with other)
  • 8 Receive on half-turn
  • Timing of the run from the 11 - Offsides ON
