GM Moment: Defensive Organisation - Mid-Blocks
Principle: Forming a compact structure to not allow forward space towards goal toplay to.
Sub-Principle: Collective team shape – working together to stay as a chain to closeboth width and depth
Practice Explanation: 67m x 50 grid (split 20-12-20-12-5).
Yellows set up in a 4-1-4-1 shape
Reds set up in a 4-2-3-1 shape
All reds can step forward
Only 1 from each grid can step backwards
Yellows can step forward as soon as they transition it forward
Attackers (Yellows) aim is to get the ball into the neutral zone - losing it will cause them to restart (3 points)
Reds aim is to win the ball (1 point) and then work it over back to the start (1 point)
If reds win it and don't work it back and yellows regain - must restart in shape and start again.
Progression:
2 reds are allowed to step backwards
Key Messages:
Stay compact
Don't allow penetrative balls
Close down anybody who can look forward quickly
Wait for pressing cues to step out of line
Work together as a unit
Keep your unit in a chain (both width & depth)

Practice Explanation: 20m x 16m grid (split 8-4-8)
5v5 game - defensive team must get a 2-3 or a 1-4 defensive shape and not allow penetrative balls - if they do must work back to regain correct shape. Possession based game to start. Lose the ball find your defensive shape
Progression:
Add mini goals either end and becomes a directional game
