1st Phase (15 mins)

GK - Has the option to play the ball to either of the wide CB's who come inside the box for the first phase.

Once the ball has been played to the CB - they should have 2 passing options minimum

  • Into the WB, or the CM highlighted
  • Both pass 1 and 2 are on at the moment
  • If the BLUE winger, blocks off the pass into the WB by shifting over
  • Pass 2 is on, the CM will need to be brave, but all he has to do is play the ball around the corner for the WB to run onto
  • Once the CB passes to the CM, the WB knows he won't receive the ball so it is key he knows he is the CM out ball and to move away from his marker
  • As you can see from the pitch set up RED have triangles in each area of the pitch

COACHING POINTS IN POSSESSION RED

  • The initial shape needs to be right - CB's deep and wide, CM's not stood behind a player
  • WB body position needs to be side on
  • Play needs to be quick.
  • May need to play on opposites, so passing wide to get the ball back to play central and visa versa to get the ball to where we want it to go.
  • Once the ball goes into the WB from CM if using pass 2 - it's key the 10 leaves his marker to show feet.
  • If the BLUE FB blocks the ball into the 10, then they either carry or play into the CF feet.

COACHING POINTS OOP BLUE

  • WINGERS and CF to try and stop the ball going into the WB or press the CB in possession
