Organisation: 2v2
* Set-up as shown in diagram.
* Same game and rules as 1v1 but now playing 2v2.
* Playing offside rule for attacking players.
Coaching Points:
* Primary defender to use coaching points from 1v1 part.
Secondary Defender
* Body position - Slightly deeper then primary defender to offer cover if needed.
* Body shape - Open body to see player with ball AND player without ball.
Decisions for defenders:
* Who is primary defender if ball is passed?
* What do defenders do if attackers switch?
1) Stay with your man?
2) Pass attacker on and switch roles?
*Primary defender becomes secondary defender.
*Secondary defender becomes primary defender.

Organisation:
Pitch split into 3 zones - 2 wide zones & 1 central zone.
6v6 + GK
Red team score as normal in big goal.
Blue team score by dribbling over half way line.
Coaching points:
Primary defenders body position/shape (show opponent out to wide zones).
Secondary defenders position to cover and shape to see runners.
Rest of team to shuffle to protect centrally and force reds wide.
Progression:
Reds cannot tackle in central zone. Must use Angle of Approach, Body Shape/Position to force Blues wide.

1v1 Defending (15 mins)
Organisation: 1v1
* Set-up as shown in diagram.
* Red passes to blue, blue passes back then play 1v1 in grid.
* If red players get in to 18yd box they can shoot.
* If blues win ball they score by dribbling over red start line.
Coaching Points:
* Speed of approach - Shut down fast, slow down on approach.
* Angle of approach - Approach at slight angle cutting inside off.
* Body shape - Side on showing outside, knees bent to help reactions,
Challenge:
* Can you force attacker out grid without tackling?
