Theme - Exploit, finish the Attack


Organisation

  • Half a pitch - or futsal court, depending on grass or in the court
  • 2 x teams of 6 (Can be Adapted) depending on numbers
  • Bibs, Flat marks, Goals - Mini goals
  • 4 x 7 mins - 1min rest - Rotate ATT v DEF
  • Pitch Constraint lines encourage passes and runs centrally in behind.

    • Task - Exploit Space in behind
    • Teams play in a restricted zone, look to make X amount of passes to draw the press, creating space in behind
    • Once recognised, a pass into the space can be played, ATT should then look to go on and score
    • DEF on transition look to score in the mini goals
    • DEF can not recover until ATT has broken the Attacking/Scoring box

    Progressions:

    • Create Offside line - Realism
    • Bring in a Defensive line up - Position Specific

    Coaching Points: Lead Coach

    • Detail, Weight of pass, types of pass
    • Passes to dictate the press
    • Movement to penetrate - Off shoulders, Post up, Prepare space
    • Recognise moments to Find sliders in behind

    Co coach - OOP

    • CBs - Recognise when to Duck out and how. 
    • Compactness - Space between Defensive units
    • Shape?
    • Blocking passing lanes

    Other Considerations

    • Positional Practice - Both teams - Separate Defensive unit work?
    • (N) players being a 9 or an 8 - Possibly even a 4 to act as a pivot player
    • Potential sparring partner based on ILPs

    • Task - Exploit Space in behind 
    • Teams play in a restricted zone, look to make X amount of passes to draw the press, creating space in behind
    • Once recognised, a pass into the space can be played, In possession team can look to break out and and
    • DEF can not recover until ATT has broken the Attacking/Scoring box
    • If Team don't score or lose possession, Game is live and encourage EF team to press high to allow space in behind to attack

    Progressions:

    • Allow (N) to play in the channels to exploit and overload and deliver passes/crosses in to allow i different challenge
    • Take restriction of amount of passes out.
