Organization:
1. Gates of cones 2 yards apart as shown with 1 cone at the back two yards away creating a triangle. the back cone is a reference for the players to check back to have them in good habits by checking there shoulders.
2. 2 players per 1 soccer ball
3. distance bettween theirs and their partners gate is based on level, the coulour cones at the sides represent the different levels adjust as group or indervidual groups improves. make it a competetion having round were the players who score the most can move up to the next level.
Begginer 5 yards

Instructions:
1. players in pairs will work together against the other pairs ,each player will be placed on opposite sides of the grid facing each other.
the activity starts with a pass aiming into the opposit players gate the receiving player must now take a touch forward through the gate to break the line to score 1 point they also get 1 point for a pass through the opposite players gate a possible 2 points
Coaching Points:
Beginner
Receiving - On Ground (Inside)
Receive with furthest foot from the ball
Slight hop onto standing foot on contact to prepare for next action
Receive with the toe pointed up and ankle locked
Intermediate
at this level the players will take a touch out side of the cones as the ball travels through the gate like the progression on the first activity.
Receiving - On Ground (Outside)
Receive with the nearest foot to the ball
Toe down ankle locked
Arms out for balance to feel for defender
Next action is to turn or protect the ball
Advanced
at this level the players will start with a throw aiming through the opposite gate the players must cushion control the ball in the trapping zone (blue triangle).progression to this they would take a touch to play forward breaking the line through the gate.

Get into line with the ball

Organization:
Three groups of four players, each set up in their own zone.
Players from zone 1 pair up with someone from zone 2
20 x 30 grid, three zones of 10x10 on each side as shown above.
you can adjust the size of middle grid based on level of player making it smaller or bigger.
Instructions:
1. Players A are partners. They try to successfully pass the ball through the grid without it getting intercepted.
2. Players in the middle can intercept any ball.
If the ball is intercepted, the player that passed the ball switches with the player that intercepted the ball.
3. Players can move throughout their zone of the grid to try and find a clear passing lane through to their partner.
Coaching Points:
Passing principles
-Non-kicking foot placed on the side of the ball pointing at the target
-Head up observe target

Progressions:
P1. take away one of the balls and allow them to pass as a team untill they can penetrate .
P2. allow one defender to press.
P3. remove middle line and allow them to play 4v4v4 or numbers can adjust based on players you have (one ball in play)
P4. add goals to allow the defenders to transition and score.

Organization:
1. Area size 15 x 20 or 20x30
Instructions:
1. Players split up into 4 teams and play a round robin tournament where all teams play.
2. players must not step inside the red cone areas in front of goal this will stop goal tending ,the players must shoot from out side the area
Coaching Points:
1. 3 lines of attack, 1 defender, 1 midfielder, 1 forward.
2.Team mates create gaps, can player in possession look to dribble into them.
3.when to Dribble,Pass or Shoot
4.reinforce the characteristics of each foundational player and how the use the foot work with the space they have.
Week 3 Restart & team shape
The restart this week will start with a kick in for U8 and throw in for U9 coach will demonstrate correct technique for the group.this week we will also Introduce Goal kicks when the ball goes out behind the goal this is a perfect time to bring out the principles of play creating options to play out of the back first pass is free. this will also be a great moment to see from the goal kick if we can make that dirct pass to the forwards breaking down lines of defence. Team shape will be based on a 3v3 or 4v4 format pick the best formation to bring out your topic examples on diagrams above.
Rules
the secondary learning outcome give each team 5 points at the start of the tournament ,they will loose points for bunching up and getting to close to their players. also, they can win points by making a successful pass or move to beat the player. coach will judge .
along with wins 3points draws 2points and losses 1point the team with the most over all points including bonus points will win the tournament at the end of practice.
Week 3 Principle of play!
this weeks principal of play will still be about width depth & length try to base your game stoppages around these princaples but emphesise on lenth trying to find unbroken linesto your closest option to goal and recreate a realistic game situation to bring out your learning outcomes.

Instructions:
Foundations part 1 indervidual possession player atributes
players dribble the ball around the inside of the grid and cover each foundation M,X,R,I.players will also be given a number 1,2 or 3 on coaches comand they will call out a number and they players with that number must find space and ronaldo dribble to the edge of the area perform a xavi turn then back into the grid and continue to dribble.
"Painting the Picture" of each one of the player's characteristics: * MESSI: Head up looking to get into the gaps using small, quick touches with the Pinky Toe (outside of the foot). * XAVI: Head up to recognize when there's no gaps/space, then change of direction (12 o'clock to 6 o'clock), ball comes out of your feet, and then head and eyes up getting into the new space. * RONALDO: Head up to see when there's a lot of space in front of you, then big touch to accelerate and get your head/eyes up and attack the space. *INIESTA : Head up to recognise small tight spaces ,using the inside/outside surfaces of the foot to unbalance defenders to make the space big enough to penetrate.
Foundatons Part 2 indervidual possession surface control
each player must complete a series of ball mastery surface control the coach will demonstrate the bellow list of moves and have the players copy for 1 minute of repetition for each one

Foundations part 3 indervidual possession ball spacial awareness and ball protection
-split the players into two or three teams based on numbers team should be know larger than 4 players per group.
-two teams will have balls and dribble around the area and one team will defend.the players on the ball must dribble around the grid finding space and protecting the ball when coming into contact with a defender. encourage the players to use there moves to beat the defender and excelerate away lifting their head and identifing new space..
-coach will time the activity and every time the players keep possession of their ball for 60 secs they will gain 2 points.if the defender steels the ball they can now transition and score in any of the 4 goals to gain a point
-teams rotate after 2 rounds
Foundations part 4 Group possession
-same set up as foundations part 3 but this time the teams share on ball and keep possession every 3 passes they can make, they will recieve a point and an extra 3 points if they maintain possession for they entire round.
-if the defence steels the ball they must transition to score to gain a point they can also combine to go to goal too.
Progression after making three passes allow attacking team to score.
