6v6 + GK so all match day squad are involved.
Bib one set of 6 up.
Starts as 6v6 in the possession zone with focus on technical aspects of passing
Later progresses to a 6v6 game with a goalkeeper with objectives and targets
Explanation
- The first objective for the attackers is to combine in the possession area for 10 passes, playing away from pressure from the defenders.
- Once the attacking team have reached at least 10 passes, their second objective is to move the ball into the final third (shooting area) and generate a shot at the goalkeeper, trying to score in the goal.
- One objective for the defending team is to disrupt the possession of the attacking team
- Another objective is to win possession from the attacking team pass and move into the transition zone to then transition into attack. They must pass into the shooting zone to generate a shot at the goalkeeper
- The objective for the keeper is to save any shots or to sweep up any errant passes that enter the final third. GK then uses the defesnive transition team to pass out from the back to.
Challenges, Conditions or Targets
- Limit of touches introduced to increase the speed that the ball moves
- Introduce time limit to reach ten passes to increase the speed that the ball moves
Coaching Points - Attackers
- Body shape - How are we looking to receive the ball?
- Scanning - Are we scanning to see where the space is?
- Movement - Are we generating angles in order to play away from pressure?
- Can we continue passing after 10 passes until it is appropriate to attack the goal, and then enter the final third with purpose and momentum?
- Types of passes - Full variety of pass available. Mix up speed, length of pass, height, playing to the front/back foot or into space
Coaching Points - Defenders
- Can we communicate how we are pressing so that together they can funnel the ball into tight spaces and trap the attackers against the pitch boundaries?
- Can we break up play by getting touches on the ball via tackles / blocks
- Can we win possession with interceptions and then simulate starting a counter attack by playing into one of the red goals?
