Handball (15 mins)

End zone Handball Game  6v6, 7v7 

Teams move the ball from one end to another to score a point, once a point is scored the team in possession now tries to move the ball the opposite way to the other end zone ,to try and score a point. 

When the opposing team wins the ball or a change of possession, they attack the end zone that faces them to try gain a point.

Passing Seq (15 mins)

  • 20x 40 
  • Balls
  • Pinnies
  • 8 players minimum
  • Player A passes to Player B, B passes to C, C passes to D. Players follow there pass.
  • Check shoulder, check off mannequin receive pass and release 
  • Both groups start at the same time

Shooting (with combo) (15 mins)

Objective:

To work on passing patterns finishing with shot from the top of the box.

Organization:

6 Red start on 1 post and 6 Green start on the other.

The next line starts when player D receives the ball.

B Checks at angle and receives ball from A

B plays to C who checks at correct moment

C plays to D

D lays the ball off for C to shoot. (take a touch first)

D turns inside and shoots

Progression:

Players switch side so one works right and one works left

Competition, first to 8 goals

Coaching points:

Weight of pass must be appropriate,

Hit the target with shot

Follow rebounds

Practice 4: 7v7 Scrimmage with Shape Reminders (Building on Practice 1)

This practice builds upon the concepts introduced in Practice 1 by transitioning to a larger, more game-like scenario with reminders for maintaining defensive shape.

Setup:

  • Full-size field
  • Players: 14 players (two teams of 7)
  • Equipment: Balls, bibs, cones (optional), discs or rings

Gameplay:

  • Play a regular 7v7 game on a full-sized field with two small goals (3' x 3') at each end.
  • The key coaching points from Practice 1 (out of bounds, throw-ins, goal kicks, goalkeeper, build-out line) still apply.

Shape Reminders:

  • Place discs or rings at strategic points on the field to remind players of their defensive shape (diamond or pentagon formation).
  • You can use different colored discs/rings for different positions (e.g., blue for defenders, red for attackers).
  • Encourage players to refer to the discs/rings during stoppages in play (goal kicks, throw-ins, etc.) to get back into their defensive shape.

Coaching Points:

  • Reinforce the key concepts from Practice 1 as needed.
  • Focus on maintaining defensive shape throughout the game, using the discs/rings as visual cues.
  • Encourage communication and teamwork to defend effectively as a unit.
  • Celebrate successful defending and transitions from defense to attack.
