Pressure Cover Balance (25 mins)

Set up: 12 squares 7yds x 7yds

- 1 player in each box

- Supply of balls in the middle

ACTIVITY

- The ball is passed across the boxes. Each player must hold on

to the ball for 2 seconds.

- Defending team without the ball adjust their shape to simulate pressure cover balance.

- If the ball is in the middle box, middle player steps to pressure the

ball, side players cover off the shoulder.(Form Triangle)

- If the ball is in the far right square, the defender across from the

player steps to pressure, middle defender drops to cover off the shoulder and the far defender provides balance to stop the ball from coming in.(Be aware of what is behind you)

COACHINGPOINTS

- Pressure on the ball is priority.

- Pressure the ball to an area you have numbers.

cover provides direct help.

- Balance cuts off passes from being switched.

- Players cannot leave their square

Defending in 3's (25 mins)

Set Up

:30x30space.4 teams of 3.

Instructions:

1) Must get across half before passing to the other side.

2) Can pass across at any time

- Defending team wins the ball and pass forward to the next team. Team losing

possession goes into the middle.

* Defend zonally*

Coaching Points

- Defend zonally and maintain compact space.

- Pressure and cover principles.

- Pressure the ball (Step up) and block passing lines

forward at the same time.

- Body shape and curved run to block pass forward and then

pressure.

- Don't get split (Force ball wide).
