Organization: 4 Red v 4 Blue with Keeper. Two pug nets on the edge of half.
Instructions:
Ball begins with coach playing it to the attacking Reds or playing it into the attacking zone for Red to run onto. Blue has to transition to Defence immediately and may score on the outside pug nets. Switch Red/Blue roles at half time.
Coaching Points: 1. Blue must establish goal-side positioning on Red as soon as feasible. 2. When run-on balls are delivered, Blue must interpose their body between the Red player and the ball to be successful. 3. Blue must establish pressure-cover-balance positioning as a unit to be successful. 4. Individually, the goal of Blue is to Delay Red sufficiently for others to come help.
Progression: Depending on success of Blues, may move them backwards a step to make the game more difficult or forward a step to make it easier.

Organization: 4 Red v 4 Blue with Keeper. Two pug nets on the edge of half. A central zone demarcated by 4 cones.
Instructions:
Ball begins with Red playing rondo within the central zone. Blue attempts to intercept and play to Blue player on the outside of the zone. Blues on the outside zones have to be on the sides closed to the touch lines. Once the pass is completed Red transitions to defence of the large net. Red's goal is to repossess the ball within 3 passes. If they can re-establish possession they can go to goal either of the pug nets. Switch Red/Blue roles every goal (or within 2 minute). Keep track of score to see which team wins.
Coaching Points: 1. Speed to press for Red is key in transition. 2. Red must establish pressure-cover-balance positioning as a unit to be successful.
Progression: Depending on success of Reds in re-establishing possession may increase or decrease the amount of passes to repossession to allow them to go to goal.

Organization: 5 v 5 with two goalkeepers. [OR Other net has small net inside large net (goals only between the nets)]
Instruction: The players will be permitted to play a game with CMSA rules for U11 with our expected practice numbers. Only special condition is that if the opposing team scores when your team is not fully within the defending half, their goal counts for 5.
Coaching Points 1. Reinforce Delay skills in Transition by highlighting good use of denial of space to slow the attack 2. Reinforce immediacy of retreat by forwards when loss of possession.
Cooldown & Session Debrief: Review main points of the session during post game stretch: how quickly we respond as a group makes the biggest difference to success when losing possession, individually we should be looking to delay they other team to allow others to catch up

Warmup: Transition 1v1, Shooting (15 mins)
Organization: Two groups of players line up behind 4 cones facing a goal. Half the balls are placed just before the start line for both lines and half with the coach just outside the penalty box behind the goal.
Instructions:
Red and Blue will run around the cones forward at all times. When Blue ends their obstacles they will run to the net, take a pass from the coach to a one touch shot on goal and then they will run around the additional cone to the right and turn to defend against Red. Meanwhile, Red will run to get the balls at the back and play a 1 v 1 vs Blue. Each player will take a ball back to either the coach or the start line.
Coaching Points: 1. Focus on the Blue players transition moment and encourage them to move immediately after the shot with pace to establish a goal-side position against Red 2. Ensure that players on both side understand that speed in getting to a position is very important to their ability to succeed in the 1 v 1 - it is all about getting to an occupying the most advantageous position before the opposition.Progression: No progressions.
