Station 1 (10 mins)

Move that ball!

3x3 cones of different colours

5 teams of 3

Each player has 3 balls (9 per group)

Player 1 carries ball 1 to 1st cone, sprint back, collect ball 2 and carry to 2nd cone, sprint back, collect ball 3 and carry to 3rd cone

Player 2 and 3 repeat

Player 1 then collects ball from cone 1, carries it back to their team, sprints to cone 2, collects ball, repeats

First team with all their balls back at their team base wins

Change it: Players have to dribble ball in and out of cones to the top cone, then push pass the ball back to the next player (accuracy etc)

Can also use the SWEEP if you can work on the basics of it with the players, this would be a great coaching opportunity

Station 2

Kabadi Count-up (Set up 2 games on a Quarter)

4 in each square (2 teams in each pitch)

1 group starts passing in their square. Each time they connect 3 passes, defending team sends a raider across to try win the ball

If raider intercepts/tackles and wins ball, they need to try get it back to their team square to begin their count

Station 3

Pirates and Sailors

Everyone with a ball (sailors) and 3 players without balls (Pirates)

Sailors have ball (treasure) and move their treasure from island to island, avoiding pirates on the open seas

Pirates don't have a ball and try to "steal" balls away from sailors

If they steal the ball, they become sailors and the sailor becomes a pirate and may not tackle the player who has just stolen their ball

Safe islands mean only one sailor can stop there for maximum 3 seconds (they must count out loud) and they cannot go back to the same island until they have stopped at 2 others

Only one sailor per safe island, pirates cannot tackle

Focus points: ball carry, eyes up to see where pirates are and see where open islands are

Pirates work on CLEAN tackles

P7A&B (10 mins)

4v2 to a 5v3

Begin with 3 attackers v 2 defenders (who start behind end zone line)

E sweeps to A who starts the attack (can pass to B or carry self) against D1 & D2

EABC v D1&D2

Progress to 5v3

Add D3 in scoring area (may not leave that area) and Attacker F (E & F may not leave scoring area)

2x Defenders running a press on the 3 Attackers and should not run out of the press to the attackers, they must practice shifting to deny forward movement and space with D3 forming the bottom of the triangle
