Back to Goal Game: North Carolina
Create two Teams:
One is defending and scoring in counter goal. One is attacking and looking to score on big goal. 6 seconds to get shot off.
- This is duel with your back to goal. The Receiving player touches the post, when ready check to the ball on an angle - When she leaves serving player plays it into path of her run; defender from other post comes to defend - 1 vs. 1.
Progression:
1) If you choose to play the midfielder in, the next defender can go in to make it 2v2.
2) Every pass you play the next defender and attacker enter the game. So if you can turn your defender, try and beat them.
Competition: Attackers have to score 5 out of 10. Losing team does fitness. Switch position of players.
Coaching Points: 1)If defender is checking hard without slowing down, cut it against the grain.
2) Only pass when you have to. If you keep passing, more defender's come into play.3) If you keep passing in the attacking third, more time for more defenders to come. 4) Use your 1v1 ability to carve and finish. 5) most dangerous player is the one who can be the most successful in this game. 6) Finihsing angle is better if you go inside.

Technical Progression:
1) volleys - inside foot
2) volleys laces
3) thigh with pass back on ground (introduce check away and check to)
4) Chest & pass back on ground
Heading Progression
1) Partner is standing 2-3 yards away. and working on heading where hairline starts. Don't close your eyes but make eye contact with ball.
2) knee's and work on heading through the ball.
3) Standing headers: using hips to generate power
4) Jumping headers
1v1 aerial ball battle.
Players circle up and look to make contact with ball. Winner is person who makes most contact with the ball.

Resistance Band Training
1) Forward Sprint + Crossover run backwards; "Same thing on other side".
2) Backpedal + forward slow run back + side shuffle; ""

6(+2) vs. 6 (+2) Negative Transition (15 mins)
6(+2) vs. 6(+2) Negative Transition Game
Organization: 35 x 35 yard Grid; 2 teams of 8 players. Inside area is 5v5 w/ both teams in 2-2-1 formation. Both teams have wingers positioned outside at the sides.
Rules:
Start w/ 5v5 game. When team loses ball, they need to condense space in the centre and block direct path to goal (forcing play wide). Team in transition from defense to attack have numerical advantage and can use wide players to make it a 7v5. When attack is finished, ball starts with team who just finished the attack.
Scoring:
1. Team in transition from defense to attack must finish attack in 8-12 seconds.
2. Team in transition from attack to defense recover the ball within 6 seconds, score 1 point. (team who attacked needs to take off 7 & 11).
3. Outside players can both go inside area to transition to attack.
