Attacking a disorganized defense
3 defenders will have to protect their goal against 3 attackers.
Two defenders will start from a chasing position while an attacker is positioned in support (in front of the ball) with a defender. At the start of the game, the other 2 attackers will be placed in support of the action.
ORGANIZATION :
For this tactical game, the coach must have one half of the field.
Then 2 teams of 7 players + 1 or 2 goalkeepers must be organized. Then, a defender must be positioned on each block as shown in the illustration above (1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6), i.e. 20 meters from the goal for players 1 and 4.
For the forwards, they are located 40 meters from the goal in the center.
An attacker and a defender are positioned in the center of the field.
Rules:
The action starts when a red attacker makes a forward pass on his dueling partner.
As soon as this first pass is made, the coach announces two numbers (a number between 1 and 3 and a number between 4 and 6).
The 2 defenders announced move into position to defend the goal while the 3 red attackers enter the playing area to score.
The red players have a limited time to finish the action (ex: 8 to 10 seconds to finish the action).
The coach counts the off-sides.
EVOLUTIONS:
For this training, which aims to attack a disorganized defense you can:
1 - Add a defender and an attacker in the center of the field. In this way, it will no longer be a situation of 3 against 3 but of 4 against 4.
2 - As a second evolution, it seems interesting to modify the departure of the defenders. Indeed, instead of leaving from the side, they can leave next to the red player who starts the exercise. Thus, the 2 defenders will be a little more late, they will make a race in pursuit (race towards his goal to reposition themselves between the ball and the goal).
Coach points:
You must only intervene on the team attacking the goal and more specifically on the ball carrier and the potential receivers:
The ball carrier must, if he is standing with his back to the game:
- Find a partner in front of the game by limiting his number of ball touches and thus favoring the handovers and deflections.
The ball carrier, if facing the ball, must:
- Progress with the ball until he finds a favorable situation to shoot on goal, find a free partner or find pass behind defender back.
Potential recipients must:
- To move away from the opponent by using feints, overlaps, comma calls (coming to the ball and diving to one side)
- Get out of the field of vision of the nearest opponent
- Move as far away from each other as possible to sent away defenders from each other
-Face the game without being off-side to play forward

Set up:
Number of players: 8 v 8
Playing area: 40 m wide x 60 m deep ( adapt in function age and technical level)
Working time: 20 to 25 minutes
EXPLANATION :
It's a 3v3 situation.
The attack is limited in time (between 5 and 8 seconds).
As soon as the 3 attackers in Red have finished their offensive action, they change status and will defend against 3 attackers in Blue.
The attackers enter the field from position A and B for the Reds ; A' and B' for the Blues.
Off-sides are counted except for the goalkeeper's deep pass on the attackers entering the field
EVOLUTION :
In this situation in order to work the fast attack in numerical equality, you can simply increase or decrease the number of players (from 2 against 2 to 5 against 5).
You can also go from a numerical equality, to an attack in numerical inferiority (2 against 3) or numerical superiority (3 against 2, 4 against 2)
Coach points:
Two points are essential for this situation of imbalance to work:
First, the pitch must be deep and narrow, it will promote forward play.
Secondly, the coach must encourage, without forcing the goalkeepers to throw the ball back into the path of an attacker (position A - B - A' - B' ).
On this pass, the offside rule is not applied
you must teach the 2 game moments noted below:
1-The imbalance phase
For the imbalance, it will be necessary to insist on 4 sub-themes ( or sub-priorities )
Fix an opponent to shift a thrown partner
Organize permutations for 2 players to free a game zone
To occupy the space in depth so that this area is accessible
Hide his playing intentions
2-The finishing phase
As far as finishing is concerned, the coach will make sure to teach the following sub-themes
The last pass is made in the partner's race
Playing in the receiving area
Stand out so that the ball carrier and the goal to be attacked are in the field of vision.
